Is it an IPhone? I've always had problems with my IPhone and truck same with my wife's 19 4Runner she can't even use her Bluetooth without it screeching in the callers ear.

Press the SOS button, see if Toyota answers and if they can hear you. If they can hear you then the mic is good to the DCM; and your problems are somewhere at the head unit or between the two.

Toyota may try selling you some product.

EDIT: Or a software incompatibility between phone and truck as mentioned by others.

This. use a cord and select your phone and then see if your mic works, if it does it’s a bluetooth connectivity issue. If it doesn’t it’s a mic/wiring/connection issue.

This would be an easy test, recommend it to the OP. It is a test as the OP does not want to use a cord in the end, however. Too much concentration on the physical mic.

If the OP truck is a few years old and I wonder if it is still under warranty if so then he should visit his Toyota dealer and see if they can answer his question about the mic etc. Just saying

I mean I just don't want to have to plug in a chord every time I need to make a phone call, especially when I didn't need one to start, but that is a good point to rule out the blue tooth connectivity issue.
I do off road heavily so I was only thinking the mic or a connection became loose.

Will report back tomorrow. Thank you all for the input!

No money, all went to truck...
People are telling you to use wire to see if mic works. If it works, it’s NOT the mic that has the issue. They are trying to help you troubleshoot but you don’t want to listen.

Not too long ago, I couldn't pick-up an incoming call or place one using the touch screen. (Entune+) The call would show on the screen but I couldn't answer it. Same thing touching the contact short-cut on the screen to make an outgoing call. I did a re-set (push and hold power button until it turned off and let go. When the unit powered up again, the problems were gone/fixed. FWIW: every once in a while the unit will shut down and power-cycle on it's own: Maybe it's just getting old.

My iPhone and non-premium ‘17 were not playing nice for a while…. I stopped plugging the phone into the USB-Aux plug and instead plug into the cigarette lighter and now it’s good 95% of the time.

Sometimes if I answer the phone using the phone button it does not
Want to go thru the BT

About Once a year I have to delete the BT then re pair it like a new device

I would disconnect the battery, atleast that what I have to do on my wife's ford focus to get our phones to work every couple of months.

The system can be glitchy on my 2014 and has been since I got it. The updates for it were coming through for a while, but stopped a few years ago. :notsure: C'est la vie.

It's better than when I first got it, but still occasionally freezes, randomly re-sets on its own, unresponsive screen, etc still happen once in a while. The phone app section seems to be very stable: no dropped calls, etc and pairs right up with a phone. Searching through here back then yielded a lot of complaints about it in here, especially the 2nd generation. I'm actually surprised that the touch screen still works as good as it does or at all: not perfect but not bad living in the hostile environment it is in...: but it's getting old now.
