Anyone here instal a shower door over a bath fitters tub? Wife wants a sliding door on the tub as our teen is unable to keep the water inside while showering.

Seems like it should install the same way just have to drill into the acrylic liner. I have no idea if there is tile where I would need to drill the upper mount holes. Was installed before I got the house.

Did some random painting today. I call the old paint color Winston Light's Unfiltered 100's

Looked pretty gross compared to the Benjamin Aura in Decorator's White :puke:

    Two coats here.

I did finally get the back stoop painted. Its been spot primed since last September :anonymous:

Maybe I'm wrong, but shouldn't the nails for the studs have gone more than 1/4" into the bottom plate? All of them have the majority of the length out of the stud.
    20250818_165702.jpg
Oh well, it's all coming out anyways.
This one is going to be a PITA because the foundation wall isn't level. I'll fix some failed concrete, put down a new sill plate, then cut the bottom edge of the joist to match the curve and be level on top.
It's interesting finding the burned wood that was reused on the walls from whatever building they use to be on. Not burned in a storage as you can see where there they use to be nailed to studs. This was #9 that I found burned.

Temporary supporting walls are sometimes nailed similar to that for easier removal later. But they sink 3/4's of the nail with the head proud.

Just laziness. And a miracle it didn't just blow itself over in a strong door slam.

Well, upon disassembly, I found the bottom plate wasn't attached to the end joist (or subfloor), the end joist wasn't attached to the sill plate, and the sill plate was sitting on a freaking mess of concrete. But, hey, the PO put two small anchor bolts in the concrete to keep the sill plate from slipping on the broken concrete.
Gonna be making a trip to HD to get a bunch of bags of concrete. I'll fix the foundation and put in the pad for the well control house at the same time.

every aspect of this is an absolute miracle that the neighbors taco bell farts didn't knock it over.

by all accounts, even my worst repair is an absolute masterpiece in engineering when compared to this...

Yeah, I’ve learned to let a lot more go since my two kids came along, otherwise I’d never finish anything, but cutting so many corners that everything is on the verge of falling over or catching fire is a whole different ballgame. And I’m calling this work sketchy as someone who saw a fair number of farmer fixes growing up.

Purchase price for the land, house, 2 car garage below, 3 car garage up top, 2 approved septic tanks (field needed repair), and a 16gpm well cost about the same as bare land of the same acreage was going with no improvements. It also included a 3/2.5 double wide, but that is being removed next month to make room for storage and future shop. When this place is done, there could be one hell of a hillbilly shindig and the glasses in the cabinets won't rattle.

Not upset, getting exercise both body and mind.

@MGMDesertTaco you were not shitting me on the smaller fortitude filters...

Installed May 17th and I noticed a incremental pressure decrease to a sudden can't flush a toilet and wash your hands at the same time...

I put in the regular pleated type, but it's apparent with my well I need to upgrade to the 20" filter housing they offer that allegedly you can buy the universal ones.

That's a ton of sediment. I would run separate sediment and charcoal filters, so you don't have to change the charcoal filters as often. Aquasure's brand are a little spendy.
I think some of sediment filters can be rinsed and reused. I believe Aquasure's housings are proprietary with their filters. I think the pentair big blue housings are universal. I know HD sells a bunch of different 20" filter brands and types online. I'm sure you'll figure out what works.

At this point I'm gonna have to have a company come out and camera the well. The well head and cover are right at ground level. A plumber friend told me there might be issues with that and we've had a bunch of rain since May.

How old is your well? Ours is old Iron (cast) casing and has started to fail so we get bad sediment at times.

As for sediment filters....Rusco Spin Down ones are what i have. Get the 1-1/2" or 2" ones though as they have larger filter elements. our setup kind of sucks but it works but we have two spin downs...a 100 micron then a 50 micron. The 50 micron is usually what clogs up for us. But running without the 100 micron, it would clog even faster. After those we have another 50 micron and 20 micron 4x10" normal house filters. (and from there its our RO unit which is a 10 micron and then the RO filter)....yes our water sucks lol.

    My first 10 x 4" filter is 1 micron and the second and final filter is a 10 x 2.5" that's a .35 micron.
Need that because our dissolved rock sediment is incredibly fine. So fine that if you fill a glass with raw water the sediment never settles to the bottom even after a full day.
