    Hi Fellow Tacoma Owners,

I’m new to this world! I bought a new to me 2010 Regular Cab Base Tacoma 5-lug RWD. I’m trying to upgrade some parts. I changed out the front bumper, and have done all the maintenance (oil, coolant, breakers, etc.).

I noticed that my truck didn’t come with an engine splash guard so I purchased one online but it didn’t fit. The clips on the front didn’t match and I couldn’t find anywhere to screw it to the frame.

I’m not sure if this is unique to my truck but the rails where the engine splash looks different from everything I’ve seen online. Even the bump where you would jack the front of the car is a lot smaller than expected.

Do anyone happen to know what kind of engine splash guard or skid plate would fit my truck?

I would like to protect the bottom of the truck from small rocks and debris.

Get the model code off the sticker inside the drivers door and have a search on this site: https://partsouq.com/

Mine is TRN240L-TRPDKA, yours will be similar to that..

Super_White, thanks for replying. I’m amazed by the wealth of knowledge and the willingness to share the information in this forums.

I went to the link you recommended and looked up my car by the model code listed in the driver door. I was able to find the diagram that shows a splash engine guard but it’s the same mode that I’ve ordered before that doesn’t fit.

When I go to Toyota Parts Online and check the compatibility with my truck it says that it’s not compatible.

Any ideas of what I’m doing wrong or is my truck in no man’s land when it comes to skid plates/guards?

    Thanks.

So, my model number is TRN220L-TRPDKA. It looks like my model has a different frame (image to the right) from the “regular” tacomas (image to the left). Which is why I can’t anything that fits. Thanks for sharing that link. It helps explain my issues.

That is because the cover is "not applicable" to your specific model.

Have you looked to see if the Toyota accessory version works? It is in addition to what came on my truck but maybe it would work alone on yours?

I tried entering what I think is your truck code...

    Thanks for the responses.

No, I have not tried the "Toyota Skid Plate" as opposed to the "Engine Splash Guard". I figured that if the splash guard didn't work, the skid plate would have the same results. Is there a diagram showing showing how the skid plate install to see if its compatible with my truck?

Thanks for sending the video and the installation instructions. I had looked at them before but I couldn't find anything useful for my truck.

Judging by what I've found so far, I think there's maybe 3 screws that have a chance at lining up. There's one by the back middle of the plate that there's no chance that it will match.

Simply put, that accessory skid plate appears to only be for six lug Tacomas. Of course Toyota doesn't appear to be making that very clear.

That appears to be the case. It's frustrating when you go to a website and it says that it's compatible when it's clearly not.
