    MSRP on the GT3RS was $300 in 2016 and it went out of production in 2018. Lego may not charge ADM, but they are masters at creating artificial scarcity and FOMO with limited production runs.

    This specific set was the first in what became a popular line of 1:8 scale models. It sells for as much as it does now mostly because COVID lockdowns were timed to allow people to collect all of them new from Lego except this one. So it's for people who want to complete a set these days.


    Gorgeous car!

    I've been a part of the BMW community for 20 years, and we always joke that Porsche is the endgame for BMW owners. It's only funny because it's true.

    Yeah they put so much effort into this line. I've put together the Bugatti and the Lamborghini from that line and it's the same story with those. Lego even produced an exclusive podcast to listen to about the cars and model design while you put them together. Really interesting experience.

    They're both hanging on the wall above my simrig. But the Porsche model never appealed to me in the way the later ones in the line did. Its been on a shelf or in a closet for almost a decade. At this point, I may as well sell it to someone who will hopefully enjoy it.
