Oh there's more parts for sure, I just didn't bother cause I wanted to see how quickly and easily I could mock it up for fun

But since I'm going to waste some steel tomorrow as a "break" between welding I figured why not!

If the spacing and the size of the tabs comes out the way I want, I'll move forward with making the remainder of the parts otherwise I'll toss them and focus on it a different day

I've got two smaller sections of ACME rod left along with an 18" length left over from the stool I recently made; I've got like 3 nuts left over as well for that rod

 

Looking forward to seeing the result!

Got the legs burned together and bolted on, this thing is damn near done! Just got to clean up those plug welds on the side and build a shelf for the bottom.

Playing with some feelers and my level the worst out of flat I can find is a 10 thou twist in the diagonal, I’ll take it!

 

Two things -

If you truly wish to check to see if it's flat, you need to be able to hit from one end to the next (not sure if you have something that long and flat to confirm the flatness of your table)

The second note, and more positive, is that some of your twisting could be attributed to your floors being uneven

On my fixture setup I had to play musical chairs with my adjustable casters just to get it as level and possible (which made it really flat all around). Before having done that, I had enough twist to get some pretty big gauges through and now I don't think even a .006 can fit anywhere underneath the entirety of my table.

 

That bandsaw looks like an Ellis. Good people, they make a very good product.

 

Both great points. My level is only 4’ so not getting the entire length or diagonal, and that assumes a $50 kobalt is perfectly flat too… And nothing about my house is perfect either

I think I’ll go with “this thing is pretty damn flat”! More than enough for my needs anyways. And if I ever get in to real precision work I can take steps to dial it in.

These tables, yours included, are far more flat than many of us will ever truly need

I lost out on an Ellis bandsaw posted for only $1,500 some months ago!

I was messaging the guy "I'll head there right now" only to get the, someone is going to pick it up later kinda shit

A $6k bandsaw being let go for so cheap and I missed out.

That bandsaw is a Made in Taiwan, and it's the old Harbor Freight model with a manufactured date of 2007 or so. I got it free some +3 years ago, spent $47 bringing it back to life, and have used the hell out of it.

Trick is to use the same tape measure throughout all your parts; this is especially important if you own 5-6 tape measures like I do

Yeah it's harder with wood for sure; only answer is to cut everything down shorter if one piece is too short
