So...I just got finished installing my matt gecko bed lights, and then I found this thread. I wired Matt's lights a bit differently than the instructions showed, choosing to have them switched from the cab instead of from the bed. I thought, "If only they could be controlled by the cargo lights instead of using a separate switch"... and then I saw this thread.

I thought for a bit whether I could justify buying another set of lights after the first ones but it didn't take long to decide, "Sure I can!"

I had to mount the VLED lights a little bit differently due to the other lights in the way and then I had to route the wires differently but they tucked up neatly under the bed caps and through the front rail. (I had to drill a couple of small holes in the rail.)

Then I unpinned the hot lead from the relay and hooked the matt gecko lights to it, repinned it, hooked up the ground and voila; they work together perfectly.

I don't have these lights yet, but I have ran several harnesses up the drivers side of the frame rail between the gas tank. It's a pain to do it without the proper tools.

I like using the Klein (or similar) fish sticks. I just tape the harness directly to the flexible fish stick (without the hook on it) and send it on through. Literally takes 30 seconds instead of 30 minutes.

I used fish tape, in my explanation I mentioned that I had an issue pulling the wire BACK once I got it fished through because I wasn't paying attention and the wire was behind my brake lines and would've been wrapped around them before going down the frame. Because the inline fuse was getting stuck on the brake lines. There's no issue pushing a fish tape or other smooth line through there. I was merely saying to make sure you're 100% ready to pull that inline fuse wire through that area, because it's a one way street with a giant inline fuse on the wire ready to snag on anything.

Got mine finally installed today. Took about 4 hours... 2 hours by myself, then my buddy came to help out. Experienced with these kinds of installs but definitely an amateur. most difficult part was fishing the wire over the gas tank. Ended up using a fiberglass pole (for marking your driveway in the snow) as well as taping to a 18" long thick zip tie I was able to push thru the frame rail from the back (after I dropped the spare tire) and a second person watching from underneath and directing the pole with a long flat screwdriver. Definitely a 2 person job. (I have aluminum gas tank skids which made it more difficult). Routing the wires from the tail lights to the bed was significantly easier than I was expecting based on various comments. I found the best way was to put a flashlight on the bed side of the hole, then looking thru from the tail light cut out, you can see exactly where to push the wire thru. did not need to use a fish tape or wire, it went thru like butter.

I love how it operates and lights up the bed. very happy with it (after the pain of routing the wire over the tank... it was horrible).

I went with 6' strips of LEDs along each side of the bed. Well protected, a clean install (zero wires showing). Think I spent around 15$ for the project.
