Hi, ya'll just curious what ya'll would do about this issue. I've been going into my engine bay pretty often but yesterday I just noticed this dried coolant around the edge of the engine inlet upper coolant hose and some dried on the plastic cover. I did the water pump a few months back and removed and re-installed this hose and yesterday I saw that it looks like the metal clip in that section is looser than its previous resting spot.
Curious what the urgency is and what ya'll would do to fix this problem.

You need to squeeze the camp and slide it back then shove the hose on farther and then slide the clamp back to its original position.

If the leak persist after this replace upper radiator hose. Don’t try and squeeze it with a band clamp. JMHO

The upper radiator hose should be pushed all the way until it’s through the plastic TB cover.

This but I'd take it all the way off, clean that metal end up real good with a green scotch-brite pad and some distilled water (stuff a rag in the hole first) and treat the inside of the hose with a little silicone for rubber gaskets. Usually find it with the pool supplies. You can put some on the outside of the hose too. Will help it slip on easier and resist tears / nicks in the process. But do be frugal with it because you don't need it in the coolant and it will make it slip off easier too. Don't forget to pull that rag out before you put it all back together or you are going to have a new set of problems that makes this issue look like kindergarten.

You may need a new clamp too if that one isn't holding tight.

X2 on new hoses. Assume those are old. You’ll see and feel the difference immediately.

cool I'll put it on there deeper as a first action and plan on replacing it in the near future. Do I need to drain the radiator petcot to replace this tube or is the low temp resting line low enough to let me scoot by without the drain?

No need to drain just top off coolant if you lose a little.

    no! just no!!
that hose is on all the way to where it should be ... there is just a massive amount of builtup crusties on the metal under the hose that a razor blade carefully should scrape it all off top to bottom...this is how i repaired mine many years ago
there is a little ridge on the metal that the hose snugs up to iirc without checking my taco out
do you see that little lip in the OP picture what i am talking about?

check your lower radiator hose , it is likely starting to happen there as well, depending on how you replaced the water pump, that is

Looks like a little seepage, not a big deal but I would replace both upper and lower hoses before it becomes one

OP recently replaced his water pump my through is he didn’t put the hose all the way on. The hose should go through the TB cover farther it’s just not on all the way.

No, there is a metal tab you can see right there in the picture that stops the hose from going on any further. He can clean it up with some WD-40 after draining some coolant into a clean bucket and removing the hose and try reinstalling with slightly more pressure. Then replace the hose if it’s continuing to do that. I’ve got a little seepage there even with a new hose and a screw hose clamp after 3-4 years.

you should have Zero seepage there! especially with a new hose
git rid of that screwy hose clamp get a constant tension clamp!

That might help, I also installed a 2.4 rad so there’s a little more bend to the hose than I like after cutting some of it off when I installed it. It’s kind of low down on my list of priorities now, got a lot of more pressing matters right now.

yes, modifications can rule the norm out definitely
    what pressing matters?

Well I was wrong and don’t mind being corrected. Here is a picture of my upper rad hose and it does not go through the TB cover. My apologies!

It’s been awhile since I had this hose off.

Definitely agree, seeps turn into drips, they’re a good warning for both loose clamps or old dry hoses that need to be replaced

Old hose. Mine was doing that after I did the timing belt. Threw on a new Continental hose (note - if you go aftermarket instead of OEM you'll likely need to trim the hose down a bit.) Threw on new CT clamps while I was at it. I've got the part number somewhere if you want to go OEM with the clamps.

Why all the exclamation points? Its a rubber hose, calm down

First step is to simply move the clamp to a new position on the hose.
And/or cut a half inch off the end and push it on farther. The goal is to get the clamp off the thin squished rubber and get it onto a thicker part of the hose.

And yes check for corrosion crud built up on the aluminum outlet. Scrape it off, brush it off, whatever.

If it's still leaking then try a new hose and maybe a new clamp

I was playing around with the engine this weekend and took a second to inspect while that clamp was pulled back. There’s a little metal tab on the top of the engine inlet that inhibits the tube from going on any deeper, but I will be cleaning that pipe with a razor blade as soon as I get a new tube, clamps, and coolant.
