This one is the older street twin, not speed twin. Got a smoking deal on it, but had to drive 2.5 hours to Springfield to get it.

Yes they carry the weight down low, once you get used to it they actually handle quite good and feel very planted, as long as it's not on the cheap pirelli tires. Also it's a very torqey motor and pulls strong in the bottom end, that's the giggle factor. Enjoy it brother!

fixing the headlight wiring on my bike today and put a drill bit through the main wiring harness. Guess that's what i get for working when I'm exhausted in the humidity and not thinking right. Ebay a used one gonna be a fun learning experience on the z650 :crapstorm:

Yes, it is awesome! Really feel the torque, this one is around 60ft/lbs at 3200 rpm. The PO put a new Bridgestone battle-ax 502 on the rear, which is a 90/10 tire, but comes stock on the nc700x. Since the work was done at a Honda dealer, makes sense, but wish they would have put a straight street tire on. Still has the OE Pirelli front. Looking at a Bridgestone BT46 for replacement, to stay in the Bridgestone family.

That sucks. Any chance of repairing it or did the bit wrap it up and shred it?

Hmmm. I keep a written log of all that stuff (checked and have 3.5k on the Shinko so far, might be "okay-ish" for another 5-600) but a spreadsheet would be easier to "read"...

I tried spreadsheets but would do the "i'll put it in the log later" thing, didn't put it in, and just stopped kidding myself on it haha.. switched to small cheap notebooks (1 for each bike or car) I keep in a cubby on my peg board in the garage and just hand write in date, mileage, what I did, where the parts came from. If I need to know how much I have date and where I got it and can always look up the invoice in my email.

I sort of cheat. I have a dry erase board on a cabinet door in the garage with a column for each bike, my Tacoma, and her car. I write stuff on there as I'm doing things. I fill in the spreadsheet later but have the whiteboard as a back up.

I have a whiteboard sitting next to one of my tool chests where I meant to do this and never got around to doing it

My goal was all the major fluids types and quantity, when they were last changed, when they're next due, sockets needed, and torque specs all for easy remembering. Someday...

My little notebooks with the whiteboard in the background:

In other news, ordered a roll of wrap to re-do the F800GS. Going with Light Chalk Grey, we'll see how I like it. The white carbon I've had on there for the last six-ish years is starting to get gross. I have Wednesday off, so thinking it'll be a good relaxing garage project for the day.

I'll be redoing everything in white, not a ton but a lot of tricky curves, especially on the beak. I also don't know if I'll do orange or black for the F800GS logos. I figure it'll be easy enough to cricut out both and see which one I like more.

Had a fun day of ridding with the gf and some good friends of ours! We did about 120 miles of random little roads and trails that we found on Google maps and just winging it as well lol.

Nooow I'm sitting on the couch because god damn that 2x4 of a seat is brutal! Great suspension to take up any trails and jumps but man could kawi make a better seat!

I found a cheap one off eBay Ima just replace it. It’s right out in the open and got quite a few wires in the same spot. Hopefully it looks a lot easier then my klx when I powder coated the frame
