One thing the OP did not mention; what color are the two trucks? For many, this would be the defining parameter! :)

Extended warranties are bullshit. Go for the 20k truck and negotiate a lower price on it.

Not sure if a smaller cab truck could still fetch that price. Double cab pickups have become the new family car of the 2020s for sure.

I would negotiate the price of the lower mileage one, and use the negotiated difference to buy an extended Toyota Platinum warranty. But in the OP's case the original Toyota warranty has probably expired so extending the warrant may no be possible now (?).

The problem with the Tacoma, Tundra, and so on is that any extensive engine work requires lifting the cab and long hours of maintenance. While an engine may cost under $15,000 the labor can bring the cost to nearly twice as much. The extended warranty on my wife's 2023 Tacoma TRD Off Road is for mine and her peace of mind.

Still 2 months left on drivetrain warranty.

Based on Granger, there may be a chance at warranty yet, but not for cheap....

That is not the extended warranties I referred to. The warranties I mentioned before are the Toyota Platinum Extended Warranties, not dealership warranties. Also, I never pay the exorbitant price for the Toyota warranty the truck's dealer are trying to sell me. For example, I would have paid 100% to 300% more for the warranty from my wife's truck if I would have bought it at the dealership I bought her Tacoma at. That's why I bought it from another dealership in the Lower-48 States (I live in Alaska). The official Toyota Platinum extended warranty is honored in all the US States and Canada.

But it is also possible that since the truck you are thinking about is an older model, or a 2021 instead of a 2023 like my wife's Tacoma, the warranty will cost more? I paid cash for the extended warranty I bought. Here are the details:
    https://dkbc4ohgr0vz0.cloudfront.ne...atinum-extended-warranty-cost-is-it-worth-it/

Please note that I am not recommending the company in the link above. I posted the link because the host explains what the Platinum warranty is. A have been buying the Toyota Platinum warranties from a Toyota dealership in Kansas. I had it years ago on my wife's 2010 RAV4 V6 and never used it, and now on my wife's 2023 Tacoma, and more than likely won't again used it :)

@PAKraig: What others said. You live Pennsylvania? More important, check out the frames of both Tacoma trucks. Make sure not rotted out.;)

Most times Certified trucks here are in great shape, but you never know. The dealer that has the low mileage one historically sells high quality used cars, but I've seen some first Gen Tundras that were SCARY, so thanks for mentioning it.

Not as many ACabs out there - six-foot bed.... I think it would fetch a pretty penny.
But you'd have to pry the keys out of my cold-dead-hands first....

Won't be able to make it to either dealership until Thursday, but has anyone had any luck extending a Certified Warranty?? Adding to it? I've added the "wrap" or comprehensive warranty to match a Certified drivetrain warranty before with a successfully negotiated affordable cost, but I've always turned over vehicles fairly quickly, around 2 years. Not in the mood to do that anymore. I'd like have my next one for 5+ now.
