Failed my inspection, not sure what next steps are. Lots of stuff on what to do when the airbag light is on but I get no airbag light at all, not even a flash at startup.

I failed inspection and they told me their scanner can't read the SRS system at all so I don't think this could be just a bulb.

Would a completely dead module give a no light condition? I guess it could also be a dead module and also a burned out bulb. Any steps I can take on my own here or do I need to try and source a new module? I did confirm that the module is plugged in.

    Start by checking fuses?

Oh yeah thanks, forgot to mention that. ECU - B fuse is good, pulled it and check continuity not just visual check. I believe that's the only fuse involved.

Related question - if it is a module replacement can anyone confirm whether the module is the same in 4wd and 2wd prerunner trucks of same model year?

The 60A ABS fuse is primary power feed to the ABS module/system.
    Then the ECU-IG fuse.
Pretty sure the 60A is bolted into the fuse box. Easiest way to check it is at the ABS module.
Unplug the harness, Check the 2 black wires at pins 1 & 17.
    And then the 2 Yellow/Red wires at pins 6 & 7
    Key ON during the test.

Typically I'll just check fuses and the connection to the module. It's almost assuredly the SRS module if the light isn't on.

Since the ABS Module provides ground for the ABS light.
Might as well test the grounds too.
If you have powers and Grounds. It's more than likely the ABS Module.
    Grounds are pins 2 & 18 White/Black.

I mean, you are right there checking power. Why not grounds. Then call it done.

Pull the module and send it out to be rebuilt. $80.

I've been using "my airbags.com" for years. They top notch. Located near Atlanta Georgia.

No ABS on this truck. Does the module also control the airbags?

Thanks, this is what I figured good to have confirmation for someone with experience. Do you know anything about cross-compatibility on the modules? I can't find anything online.

Have you ever had one actually rebuilt, or just reset? All the stuff I've seen online including on that website is talking about resetting modules when the light is on, not sure if they do actual repairs for a no light condition.

    My bad. I got confused.
I thought it was the abs that failed the test.

I’ll have to see on the SRS.

I missed the no light condition. I've just had mine reset to get rid of the light. Sorry.

The 15A Cig and 7.5A Ign fuses are the primary power feeds.
ECU-B is only for the light. SRS module grounds the light to turn it on.

I'd check power and grounds at the module.
It is C21 on the parts diagram below.

Pins #5 & 6 should have power, Key -On
    Pins # 27 & 28 Ground at all times.

Oh wow, thank you. This is extremely helpful. I will pull it and check as advised and if the connections look good see if I can source a used one.

Do you know anything about interchange? A member on here has a 89170-04040 which is from an '02. Mine is a 89170-04021. Visually the look identical and plugs look like they would fit but I can't find any interchange info online.
