I don’t typically make posts about bad transactions that I have made,

But the Toyota forums that I belong to are a community and if there are scammers I think they should be called out.

I have bought items from Joe before and always paid will PayPal to protect myself without any issues.

I needed a new brake cylinder and texted Joe Joe and he said 215.00.

I wanted to pay with PayPal but he said that was not an option and had to be Zelle.

I made that payment, a week later I received the item and it was from a completely different year and truck, long story short, I returned it and now going on four months later still no refund and no response from phone calls or texts.

    I’ve been scammed.

Just my personal experience paid with Zelle and a word of caution if you use Joe Joe.

Anyone else been scammed? By him?

His website is down as of today, so just be careful,

Im thinking I have been this time. Placed an order for some ball joints many months ago but have yet to see them. Its odd though, because on many previous occasions ive bought from him and had great experiences with quick shipping. And those were pretty expensive orders too, like $500+. Im not sure whats going on this time around. Im starting to get frustrated though because I still have no ball joints and no way to contact him anymore.

Exactly the same situation I had, I have brought from him before with no issues. After 4 month of not receiving my item or refund and blocked I understand I got scammed and he’s still doing business scamming others

Out of curiosity why would you order some like that over the net when you could get it from a parts place or dealer? Even if it’s cheaper, is it that much cheaper? I’m just curious, not saying you should have ordered from that guy.

It's actually been shown many times (unfortunately) that his pricing is not the best at all.

He was buying parts from a specific dealer (at a discount) but still adding a small mark up to them for his own net profit.

You *could* say that really, you were paying for convenience. The convenience factor being "hey, I need a brake reservoir for my 20xx Toyota Tacoma 3.4 manual..." and he'll just get you what is supposed to be the right part. While there are some that do have trouble navigating through the plethora of parts available (mainly due to confusion, Prerunner vs 4x4 throws people off a lot), you're just paying someone to hopefully send you the right part.

    But cheapest? Not at all.

Yes, if you want cheap you're better off realizing that the difference between a prerunner and a base model is that the prerunner has the same lift as a 4wd and looks like a 4wd without being a 4wd you're better off meticulously reading listing descriptions from RA if you really want cheaper parts.

It does help the general public though that many parts (identical part numbers) are used on various models though.

Good example are many Aisin parts such as a fan clutch for a 1st Gen 3.4. Granted we know that a Preunner is basically a 4x4 (sans the actual components of a 4x4), the part numbers are the same even though all Prerunners are automatic, whereas 4x4 come in auto or manual. The real difference then comes down to the dealer you buy from.

I used to use McGeorge for quite a bit for my Tacoma and 4Runner. But when I needed an OEM starter for my GX470, I found Ourisman to be the new go to. They were a good $50 cheaper than the cheapest dealers elsewhere online.

Shipping was quick all the way from the East Coast.

Yes, you are exactly right, you should always take the time to seek out parts you need yourself and weigh from various sources, I'm partially loyal to RA tho as I was able to basically rebuild my rig for about 67% cheaper than what oreileys wanted. Customer service is a bust tho, either get the right part or sell what you accidentally received on eBay.
