I have a couple of very small chips on my truck.

What touch-up paint do you guys recommend? Is the Toyota brand the best way to go?

Do you get from the dealer or an online source?

Shake them up really good, but none of them match (color and texture) 100%. OEM preferred, but Duplicolor works too.

the best…I’ve used it on multiple cars over the years and it’s always spot on unless the car has really faded

That's the most expensive touch up paint kit I've ever seen. Which one of their kits do you order?

I will go with OEM. It's pretty inexpensive and I only have a few spots so I don't need anything fancy.

    Thanks guys!

Not the person you asked, but I’ll answer anyway as I’ve been using their kits for years.

The 1st purchase is a little pricey but as you need the paint itself, the leveling spray that smoothes out the paint, and their squeegee is a must have IMO as it works great to push the paint into the chip.

The leveling spray will last a long time and can be used for any of their paints. So the 2nd and subsequent purchases are just the little bottles of paint.

Easiest color to touch-up & have it not be noticeable if done correctly...
Easiest color to have it match & blend-in so it doesnt stand out like a sore thumb...

Just a quick note that a lot of times using just clear coat is enough to fix a scratch or chip especially if it is not down to the actual color paint.

I’ve used Color N Drive for a few different vehicles over the years. Their kit is fairly good and the paint matches perfect.

if you want a perfect match I’d go with Drcolorchip. You don’t need the whole kit just the touchup paint. I’ve never found factory paints to match very well but if it’s a tiny spot it probably won’t matter too much

People complain about the cost of good touch up paint. Also the cost of good floor mats. And the vehicle is worth 30, 40, 50, thousand or more.

I noticed a few chips around the front of my tacoma after washing it last week. small chips on the hood, a pillar, and just above the windshield on the hood. not very big, no larger than a regular sharpie mark on a piece of paper.

looks like the paint is gone and is showing metal? do i only need to touch it up with a paint pen, whichever i get? or is there another step i need to follow first?

If it was mine, I would cover it with a dab of touchup paint and move on with my life.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

LOL, seriously doubt that I am smarter than you. I just don't let micro-shit like a small ding in my paint worry me like it does some here.

Just get a touch up paint pen from a toyota dealer. "chips" that small don't need a perfect color match and the dealer touch up pen should be a close if not exact match.
