tacoma ran good on the trail today… accidentally dropped a brass air line fitting into the drive belts while airing up :homer: put in the same spot I always do on the ribs of the airbox but I guess I was more off camber and the compressor vibrated it off. nothing catastrophic so far lol

I’m an amateur wood worker at best but that shit can get expensive if you’re into furniture making and custom stuff. That’s all @FLBAdrian

I’ve collected a lot of shit doing hvac/pipefitting. And home projects.

Probably just as well I wasn't sick today, my new skid plate is still in transit. That looks like too much for my wee tires :p

I gave it up, I lost access to the nice shop I was playing out of and could not get my garage set up well enough to do the things I wanted to be doing. That frustration kinda soured me on it and all my stuff had been sitting for years.

That’s actually what spurred me to dive in to metalworking earlier this year. I’ve funded most of the new tools by selling off the old and kinda have that spark back again! Having fun learning anyways.

Here’s the last cool-ish thing I made out of wood, it’s quite a few years old now…

Yeah I’m more a framer than a finish carpenter lol. I have enough wood working stuff to do most task, and some stuff like a pocket hole jog, full set of router bits and other things that can make some amateur grade furniture. But like 95% of my tools is metal working or automotive.

now if you needed me to pipe up something not mate the material I got you lol

You making a Santa Maria style grill? Love ours but it smokes up the entire neighborhood, especially if you use wood pellets since there's no lid lol.

Let’s gooo!! Lookin good, that’s gonna be a cool little grill!
A lot of folks use mesquite trimmings out here, they burn hot and the smoke is pretty balanced.

I can, never realized how easy it is

But naw this is my cousin's grill that's seen better days; he's owned it over 12 years now

It had one of those half barrel bottoms that was rusted completely through, a frame made of scrap bed frame angle, and worse

It's completely out of square too so it made fitting up replacement panels super tricky

It would've been faster, better, and easier had I welded up a completely new frame but we just used what we had cause we're on a time constraint

It would've eaten up into our time to go buy a bunch of square tube or angle for a new frame (and more costly for him)

I'm only charging him for my steel he used

Might have to try that, charcoal briquettes aren't so bad either but would like to try to use some other stuff for flavor that doesn't smoke like crazy.

When I worked at the deli/meat market as a kid we did all of our BBQing on a Santa Maria grill out in front, would smoke up the entire street when we would cook tri tips and ribs on it. Which of course was pretty much the point, people would flock in

Don't like doing it so much in our neighborhood though that's constantly on edge with the fire danger around
