My aunt and uncle had their current house built in 2015-2016, and moved into the house in the spring of 2016; I believe went to visit for the first time for Thanksgiving that year. 3rd Gen Tacos weren't as common back then as they are now, because they were still new, and I still to this day do not see a whole hell of a lot of them with the Limited trim. My aunt and uncle's neighbor had a 2016 DCSB Limited, and on this trip I started taking pictures of it with my Nikon SLR, without a second thought. The net thing I knew, their neighbor is opening his window and demanding to know what I'm doing; I forget exactly what I said, but it was something along the lines of "My aunt and uncle live right over there, I drive a Tacoma myself, and I just really like Toyota trucks." He shut the window and left me alone...

After telling my parents and relatives about this, I got the usual lecture, and was told by my aunt and uncle that there had been a number of car burglaries in the neighborhood... o_O

Okay, I am not a criminal. If I was interested in breaking into vehicles, I would NOT be taking pictures of the vehicle in broad daylight; I'm pretty sure professional car theft rings would not send a scout into a neighborhood with a conspicuous pro-style camera. Car thieves would probably take pictures, then come back at night. Again... o_O

This 2025 DCSB Limited appears to be the replacement for the 3rd Gen that led to a confrontation almost a decade ago; I took the picture from a public street, like I always do. There is no law against taking pictures of vehicles, and I will continue to do so. I got stopped by the police for taking pictures in Doylestown more than a decade ago after some old bitch called 911, and I just don't take kindly to being confronted or otherwise harassed for a quite innocent hobby! This picture was taken with my SLR, from my aunt and uncle's driveway. If police and the occasional angry prick of a vehicle owner can't stop me, what will?!?! :luvya:

Spotted this at Stone Mountain Toyota in Atlanta Sunday while helping my daughter buy her 1st car. Why SETD would go through all the trouble of hopping up this truck for off road fun and then put those tires on it is beyond me.

The tires on my 5-lug are better suited for off-roading!

Jesus Christ the poor sap who buys that...

$40k for a SR5 4x4 is fine, go get full skid plates $1000 and then see how far you can get on the All Seasons before you need ATs ($1000) and for $42k you've got a more capable truck than this.

Lift isnt gonna do anything but mess up your warranty and cause headaches. If you need 2.5" of ground clearance get bigger tires, or use your skidplate :D

    If it’s a dealer-installed lift, isn’t the warranty fine?

I wonder what the fine print says about that. Lift changes a lot about the truck, if your CV shits itself at 60k miles will they really honor the repair, even with the dealer installed lift? I personally wouldn't roll the dice, knowing how stingy Toyota can be with their warranties.

Lift and all the options were added at the "port" by Southeast Toyota Distributors. My understanding is that the lift includes longer axles so CVs should be fine. Everything's warranteed, but if you're worried you can always get the extended warranty.

Totally agree. I have the engine and tranny skids for starters. Wish my tires were bigger, but that'll be remedied when my stock Nittos wear down and need replacing in 18 months or so. The plastic gas tank does make me wonder/worry a bit though...

Aesthetics of lifting aside, if you're gonna hit something 10" off the trail thinking you have the clearance, it's probably 12" and you'll wish you had skidplates instead of the lift kit

Relying on clearance alone won't stop you from bashing up the underside of the truck if you're on some real rough shit.

Lifts are especially unnecessary on these trucks cause you can get huge tire under them at the stock height.

Along with the rest of the downsides of lifts which usually includes less articulation..

Swaybar disconnect or taking the front swaybar off is probably the best thing you can do for a 4G offroad after good tires and a transfer case LOL

I'd say swaybar disconnect is actually more important than a rear locker even. I'm sure there will be aftermarket solutions eventually.
