Yup. If you're lucky, some Toyota dealers still partner with Magnuson as certified dealers/installers. You just don't get the "TRD" logos anymore.

Oh dear. A thread regarding Forced Induction. My comments:

    1) First, and foremost, this is what I call a Life, Liberty, Pursuit of happiness issue. If you wish to supercharge your 2GR-FKS engine, may that please you and your wallet. Go for it!!! Just please educate yourself first. Because this is most definitely not at as simple as bolting on a mechanical device your engine and this miraculous quoted outcome below just happens.
This may happen to lucky individuals, for sure, but this is not the predictable norm.

    2) The 3rd gen supercharged Taco community isn't very big. Yeah, they are out there. But not like the 5.0 Coyote Mustang engine platform that was re-introduced in 2011 and is now on its 4th factory revision and has been running roughshod with aftermarket superchargers in neighborhoods everywhere. This is super important because the proverbial TUNING information is "out there" for one platform versus the other. ICYMI, the Ford Mustang is VERY EASY to tune. Ditto Ford and Dodge and Chevy trucks.

Meanwhile, the Toyota ECM (PCM) is one tough nut to crack. This is not common knowledge outside the pro tuning world. Because the the 2GR-FKS engine program has so many different "break points and controls" for when Port, Direct, and Both injection are activated. There are 30+ tables and dozens of RPM and Temperature breakpoints alone. This makes ordinary tuning and boost tuning a very complicated challenge.

This image below is one of the many OEM 2GR-FKS PCM fuel maps. How on earth do you smooth that out when there are 29 others uniquely like it?!?!?! It is not as easy as it looks.

Consider this familiar and gold star classic example of a Dyno Chart below you may have seen from OTT Tuning, which has a cult like following around here. This chart has been posted on this very forum before.

And, yet, in pretty much every other tuning world, this result would be considered one absolutely crappy Dyno Chart. No wonder it says "not for distribution".

WHY IS IT NOT SMOOTH? WHY IS THERE A BIG DIP @ ~3500 RPM? I don't care what you say - but this is a bad dyno chart outcome. For a Taco that is running on 92 octane with a MT and no other mods. This was not a gear shift drop at 3500 RPM. This chart was run in 4th gear.

It is no wonder you don't see Dyno charts for supercharged 3rd gen Tacos with automatic transmissions.
    -----------
    >>> This is a critical fundamental difference. Displacement matters. Also, the quality of the engine - especially the engine block - matters. The Coyote Mustang block in its current form is easily good for 700+ RWHP. There are people all over south Florida, the dyno tuning Mustang capital of the universe, with twin turbo chargers making even more than that.

    >>> The 2GR-FKS engine is not even capable of being sleeved. It is just not designed for a supercharger.
    -----------------
I know this fact to be unequivocally true. If you want to install a supercharger, YOU MUST GET A DYNO TUNE. Like where your truck is placed on a big machine called a DynoJet with a big roller underneath the rear wheels, strapped down with heavy duty ratchet straps, and a pro tuner tapped into the PCM with software for data logging and remapping your PCM table.

Lethal Performance (FL), Palm Beach Dyno (FL), Brenspeed Motorsports (TX and Indiana) and a dozen or so others across the country have vehicles lined up outside in their parking lots for supercharger installs. You need to make an appointment.

Right, wrong, or indifferent, there just aren't a whole lot of Tacos out there getting PRO DYNO TUNES.

And, no, if you think you can install a supercharger without a precision custom tune, you are making a big mistake. My two cents.

self installed the Magnuson SC on my Gen3. Loved every bit of it. Easy to install if you have tools and time. Fits like a glove and makes a world of difference for all uses. Sold my Gen 3 and went to a larger frame truck (Gen3 Tundra) for camper towing. Gen3 Taco had plenty of power to tow - just needed a larger frame truck. If I did not have the camper I would have kept the SC Gen3 Taco. If there was no SC for the Gen3 Taco I would have sold it and moved on to a Tundra long ago.

That was like 100 bucks worth of info for sure, not to 2c. :).
P.s. Maggie user here...it's ok and adds a little bit more HP. But won't transform the unit. Get a v8 instead if that's what you are looking for.

The maggy comes with a tune that is 100% safe to run. It'll leave some performance on the table compared to a dyno tune but will be safe.

I already had gears when i added the SC and im running a tire size that isnt over the top. I feel like my SC unlocked alot of useable power down low. I also passed on buying a higher trim level truck because i wanted to save 5-8k for the SC when it eventually came out and that was the plan from the beginning. Im around 12k mile into it (80k on the truck) It makes the truck more fun to drive and that was the expectation. i didnt expect to run 1/4 miles and compete with other vehicles.
