    neglect, mostly.
yep. for a popular media reference, there's a seinfeld episode where kramer goes to sue the cigarette companies but takes a buy out where he is used as the marlboro man on a big ad in times square.

I quit smoking "analog cigs" about a year ago, but switched to vaping for a healthier nicotine substitute. And by vaping, yes I mean electronic cigarettes. I have gotten about 10 people to switch and everyone feels great and healthier.

So yes, I say I quit smoking, but that I do vape. I didn't/don't intend to quit the nicotine, but I switched to a healthier habit.

Sure did motivate me. I don't know if I could have quit. I do know it would not have been as easy. I am so much happier not smoking for all the reasons you can think of. Being a slave is no way to live.

use the bigger picture. $2,000 per year x 40 yrs.( age 20 to 60)= $80,000. two people -$160,000, and that's if they don't go up in price. just thought I'd give you something to think about. I smoke cigars-aint cheap!

Really, the money was just a small reason but a good one. I hate not being able to breath. Anyone who thinks it isn't killing them is dead wrong.

Good for those of you that are trying to stop smoking! I stopped 3 years ago after 30 years of smoking (I know that makes me an old guy) when I quit cold turkey. I would suggest you read Allen Carr book on quitting and adopt an attitude that you are not "giving something up when you quit smoking" .... "you gave something up when you started". You gave up your energy, your health, fresh breath, money, etc.. Good luck and keep trying to stop. Studies show that very few succeed on their first attempt ... you have to try a few times.

I quit 15 years ago, and thank god for that. All my uncles that smoke still now have either COPD, or emphysema.

I quit back in October of 2007, at a time in my life that stuff was about as stressful as it could possibly get. I was in the middle of a divorce and working many 12 hour days in the military. I read "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr and it forever changed my life. A friend of mine from back home read it and quit smoking and this was someone who I wasn't sure would ever quit. I ordered it just because eventually I wanted to quit. I ordered it from Amazon. When it arrived in the mail I debated reading it because at the time I didn't feel like I was ready to quit. I figured I could go ahead and start reading it and by the time I finished it, maybe I would be ready by then. 2 days later I had almost finished the book, not wanting to put it down. The best part was that he tells you to continue smoking while you read the book.

By the time I had gotten about half-way through I didn't even want to smoke anymore, but kept doing it anyway just to follow his guidance. The next day, while sitting in the "smoke pit" at work, reading the ending of the book and smoking my last cigarette in the pack (Irony at its best) I looked at my cigarette and tossed it out. I don't know how much I've saved since then, but I know it's a lot, not to mention the fact that I'm much happier with myself for being able to kick the habit and feel a lot healthier. I encourage everyone to give the book a shot, as the only thing you have to lose is the 7 dollars or whatever it costs. Even if you still smoke after reading it, you're no worse off than you were before. I know I am shamelessly promoting his book, but I am in no way affiliated with Allen Carr or anyone else involved with the book. I am just a believer in his work, as I smoked for 9 years before quitting, and quit when I wasn't even really wanting to quit. Good luck to everyone who is trying to kick the habit!

Trying to quit as I type. Got a baby on the way so I have to quit, just figured might as well start now to save some money.

I'm trying to figure out what to do with myself. Today is the 1st day of not smoking and damn, without taking smoke breaks at work I feel lost lol

I'm gonna put on some weight, that's for sure.
