I can relate, that is coming up for me too.
I skipped an oil change so that way it isn't as expensive when I get the plugs done lol.

    Man... Totally.
I'm at that age where I can do the work myself but I'm going to be useless for the next three days and I'm going to pay more for food delivery, massages, Ibuprofen, and maybe a doc visit than the shop would charge me. And as an added bonus no one will look at the work the shop did and go "DAMN! Who F-'D that up?"

A 3rd independent shop estimate just came into my mailbox….

Something tells me this screw job does not include a kiss goodnight:

They do buy you a Happy Meal, though.

You should get a reach-around for that! Iridium plugs aren't needed, that's why they're $55. They're charging to take the the lower intake off? For what?! Bet they don't and charge you anyhow.

I used to trust independent shops. That's going by the wayside now too. I understand they all are going by 'the book', but that's nuts.

And their reviews are off the charts..... I was skimming for fake reviews and from people with 1 review.... 761 reviews 4.9 average.

Good work is good work, but screwing your customers is bad business.

I don't think the quote necessarily means they're screwing anyone. Screwing someone would be quoting this, then using cheaper plugs and not removing/replacing gaskets. Some shops just operate a certain way and it costs a shit load to use em... That's why you always get quotes!

    That's ridiculous!
I consider myself an amateur mechanic and I did the spark plugs in about 2 hours, not including breaks. I never removed anything except the bracket on the drivers side.

    This and that
It’s easy, just a high pucker factor. I doubt I would’ve been able to do it without pulling the intake. Got a few things in the way over there.
