Ah gotcha. It's like everything I suppose, every speciality, profession, hobby, someone always has a
N scale. Layout will be 65x42 Northern California rail town theme. Union Pacific.
Might do 2 trains - a small commuter/tram line and the freight line. A guy in Sweden is helping with the track layout plan.

I don’t work on my cars , have a great mechanic. When I was younger I worked 60 hours a week, mechanic did the work. Now I’m old and can hardly get up off the floor. Paid $89.00 for grease, lube and oil and filter, rotate tires. I do wash my cars o_O
I do remember changing the oil on my F250 in January in the parking lot of the apartment, I’m good

Yeah I'm pretty sure my landlord has a clause about working on cars in the lease - he has one for everything else. In fact, when I told him if he didn't put window screens in 2 windows that were missing them, I would replace them myself and charge him/take it off the rent. He fired back that the lease includes a clause about not altering the property..... :jpow: I've been house hunting for a long time so I can get away from these slumlords.

Bottom line is, I'm not working on my truck, I'm not qualified, nor do I have the time, nor do I want a broken truck, and nor do I feel bad for using a mechanic to do the work. The household median income is somehwere in the 60s in America. My salary is just above that. I am not rich if someone wants to label me rich and out of touch that's fine.

Like you my back isn't great. I get lower back pain almost immediately from any prolonged position. Which is why I'm trying to cut some pounds to release some tension off my spine.

To be fair replacing a hard drive is pretty easy lol :)

Lenovo solders many of their components in so they can't be swapped - like RAM - can't be swapped in their laptops. I get your point though.

    It's all relative.

Very cool, congrats and thank you. Sounds like banana growing may have the same cult like fans that figs do. Variety wise, but then many a hobby / venture fits that description. I too was in a hobby which put my pictures and accomplishments in print in a couple books . My name is likely still uttered on occasion. I'll keep this in mind should I have any banana hang ups .

Welp, let’s look at it this way, at least you got the dough for getting it done.
I have a BIL who tells me he needs to vested his time with more important stuffs, whenever I ask why he had to send his car repair job to the dealer.

Yep good plan. Wine and oats are out for me, blood sugar spikes.

I'm quite fit, under 165 pounds, fairly lean. My diet is above average, in as much I really don't eat junk. I NOW exercise regularly AGAIN. When I had the hernia, then surgery, I was inactive April-August. For me personally this shows how beneficial being super active is. Doc wanted to argue about that. So I will follow her advice and take some meds for now. OF course in 3 months when it looks better, doc will credit the meds. Think about that.

Country boy, if I'm physically capable of doing it I'll be doing it. Unless it's high voltage. Certain professions today can sure lighten a wallet. In many cases what I've done myself costs a small percentage of what I would have paid. A penny saved.
The country boy song apparently applies .

True, I am not a struggling college student or anything like that. But I'm pretty much a middle class stiff who is smart with money. I also like to pay it forward, esp to people who do menial work. I always leave tips in hotel rooms, I worked in a hotel as a young schmuck. I know how hard the maids work. I always leave a note with a thank you and a tip. Last weekend I gave the biscuit kitchen workers a card with 5 $20 bills inside. They're in a small cramped building, it's probably 95 degrees in there, and they always are there every saturday when i come thru the drive thru.

People like to know someone recognizes their efforts, I know working as a cartboy or in a hotel as a houseman, when someone said they appreciated it, it really bumped morale.

I still do some car work, but let's just say I can't bench press a transmission anymore.
