What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Added sound deadening and foam to both inner doors! Also finally installed power windows into the base single cab. I was able to use the stock screw locations for the motor side of the assembly which was cool. Definitely a very tedious process, wouldn't say it's the hardest thing in the world to do though.

Wiring is also in for powered locks, didn't get all the parts in time. I need a break from working inside the doors lol.

 

How are you hands looking from the doors

 

Yaaa. My canopy didnt lock anyways, ill just be more selective on what I leave inside of the bed.

 

bolted up the Trail Gear rear disc conversion yesterday. tundra booster and master cylinder are on their way.

Thank you. Not a whole lot of 2nd gen left, but this seemed relevant to the thread since theres still a stock axle housing buried in there.

Hardest part fornthe average person installjng these will be removing the drum backing plate. If you're rebuilding the bearings, you've already got it all pressed apart. If not, youll need to cut off the plates with a grinder.

the sticky shit is worse than the sharp metal hahaha working on race cars I'm used to getting cut up on my arms so I didn't come out half bad

Interior lights upgraded. Bright white dome light and some red map lights for extra flare.

Just a more Ford rear facing fog light to supplement the proposed rear bumper fog lights.

Overall this build I am trying to keep it as clean as possible and not have a bunch of Lights on brackets on roof racks and such an integrated as much as I can. I have an array of pwm modules mosfets and auxiliary fuse boxes as well to supplement dimming functions and drl/ high running functions.

Also sounded the entirety of the interior... going to hit the pillars next and also do expanding insulation foam in select areas

Cleaned the interior,greased drive shaft ,lubed uni- balls . Power washed the inside of the bed . Chasing a clunking sound in the rear when going slow over uneven terrain. Can’t figure it out checked everything underneath

okay randomly stupid question, have you dropped the spare at any point I chased a "clunk" after I dropped my driveline for new u-joints and a carrier bearing, at the same time as i did my leaf springs and had a clunk that would only happen randomly. and I didn't snug the tire all the way up, and it would slide back and stop clunking until it got loose again from the next bump, but i double checked everything had a go pro out under the frame aimed a the suspension, the drive shaft and axle a few different ways until i saw that tire shift went away after

 

How did you go about running those 0 gauge cables through the firewall?

 

Big holes and a grommet kit of course. Some extra rtv around the cut hole edges to keep the grommet in and just ensuring full seal and no exposed metal or sharp edges. Prep work is key to make firewall penetrations last.

 

Depends how far you want to go to resolve it, but the chassis ear helps me in these situations. I have one and it's helped me narrow down/locate knocks and clunks from areas I wasn't considering.
