Got some decent cuts from the little hobo freight plasma cutter today, 1/4” is the thickest I’ve tried on it yet so I’m pleased. Wasn’t maxed out either.

I booger’d up a few spots but nothing the grinder can’t sort out in short order.

Also was about to start cutting.

I did cut this out until I noticed the holes a little oblong; checked my motors and yep one of them had the tiniest bit of play.

Soon as I fixed that I saw rain coming (thunderstorm) so I shut everything down.

Thinking I'll just make the holes a little smaller for drilling out, otherwise the overall dimension is spot on

Came back to that little table extension today, been real busy welding other shit.

Right off the table, holes are perfect. You can see all the dross is still present.

    20250828_122241.jpg

Few quick tacks and some beads underneath and she's done.

The sides don't bother me if they're not perfect, the face and top do though and they're spot on

    20250828_134754.jpg

I'll have to buy those quick-release pins for mounting this up but here she is

    Thanks!

I also called and ordered the ball lock pins from TMW. I doubt I mentioned this before, but I tried ordering them a year ago from TMW and had an issue where ordering two prompted a +$40 USPS charge for just two pins.

The call today was preemptive and actually seems to have been resolved, which to their response was like "OH, I think I remember your email last year"

Anyway, got 4 pins on the way as I plan to make a second extension or maybe just a larger top for whatever.

These types of parts are certainly meant for laser, but if it doesn't need to be absolutely 100% perfect, plasma gets the job done.

It’s probably $40 because they know they were going to lose them twice and have to pay insurance claims…

I’ve got a little list of cheap accessories I want to get from them but I’m holding off because I am supposed to get a goodie bag of stuff for writing a review!

Their site now shows an appropriate USPS flat rate option, as well as UPS ground.

It may be the same old stuff, but the uniformity is much better than your earlier stuff.

I just built a Texas metal works table and am quite pleased with it! Wouldn’t argue with primeweld either

Ignore the parts on the table as I just welded them up but here's the setup now; abused the shit out of my tables

    Can we get more deets?

Gonna be pounding the shit out of stuff?

    Need perfectly flat?

Are you willing to tack weld parts of the project to the table?

I love the fab tables listed above, but they don't work for me. I need a table that I can use to drive sized bearing races out.

All the fab work I do, I just tack weld the project to the table, weld up, and break the tacks free with a couple well placed swats with the 3 lb swatter.

Clean up the table with the flap disk for the next project.

Is this going to be used at home?

If yes, consider a scissor car lift. You now have an infinatly adjustable work table that you can use to lift the car. You can get one close to the same price as the fab tables listed above.

My apologies for stepping on anyone's posts. I just want people to know there are several options.

You never step on anyone's posts, and what you shared are great points.

Tacking directly to the table is what I did at my first fab job as I had one large table (with a half inch or thicker top) as well as another one on casters.

Nice thing about a solid table top is that nothing can fall through the holes, not metal dust, no bolts, nothing and it makes for writing on it super convenient.

    20211207_154229.jpg

    20211215_175314.jpg

He might be looking specifically for a fixture table based on the brands mentioned though?

Each of course have their own strengths!
