Do I need a UCA

    Hey yall first post. My 2017 TRD Off-road came with 17” wheels. Apparently not stock because when I replaced the tires they rubbed when turning sharp. So I tried to fix with a 2” spacer leveling kit. Then I had to change the needle bearing blah blah you’ve heard it before. But the alignment shop said my geometry is maxed out and I’m at a pretty bad positive camber. It’s already messed up the tread on 2 tires before I rotated recently. Someone please tell me, do I actually need new UCA or was it a bad alignment guy. A lot of conflicting info about if 2” is enough to require it. Thank you.

    It would help if you list what exact components you have. Whats the backspacing on the wheels and how wide are they? What's the size of the tires? What shocks and spacers? Pictures also help

    There’s a difference between a 2” spacer and 2” lift.

    Idk what the backspacing is per say I do know they are TRD rims and are 17”, I’m assuming the suspension is off road stock (yellow and blue) but I don’t know the exact model, and the exact tired tire size I’d have to go check. I would t imagine they are anything extreme seeing how without a lift they only rubbed the plastic on sharp turns.

    I didn’t recognize them being used separately when looking for my answer which is why I said specifically using 2” spacers. since both lift the ride height and affect the geometry in the same way I didn’t imagine it would matter.

    Yes, its impossible to get the alignment in spec with spacer lifts and stock upper arms.

    JBA has higher caster arms designed to offset the wheel so it gets higher caster, less rubbing and better ride.

    I'd replace those rims, and get something closer to oem.

    New UCA's will help alignment and make the ride a little more comfortable but it shouldn't be 'needed'.

    Makes me wonder if you have a seized cam bolt.

    Yea I saw that abut I didn’t know if it was like that to accomplish the correct castor in the shop. I’m learning as I go so I don’t know every single thing that goes into alignment but I get the gist.

    I’m wondering if the best would be to go down from the 2” leveling spacers to 1” ones to accomplish what the TRD Pro does to clear these tires. It’ll still have a rake but may keep me from having to get new UCA… hopefully. Any thoughts? The whole goal is to fix previous owners negligence in the cheapest way possible.

    That front bolt is for camber.
    The back one is for caster.
    (They probably have it pushed forward. Tabs pointing in).
    Toe is done with tie rods.

    Plus you have 285/70's. That's about a 33" tire on stock TRD wheels and suspension. Swap those for some smaller tires or get some different wheels with a 0 or negative offset or try some wheel spacers. 285's are where people usually start rubbing anyway.

    I ran that same setup as his with 2.5" spacers but I have (32's - 265/75r16) and 1.5" Spidertrax wheel spacers giving -7mm offset.

    Ya, 265's are about 31" tires. That's a bit smaller and with those spacers I bet you have a ton of clearance.

    I don’t imagine that wheel or tire size or offset really affects my geometry limits does it. In terms of camber I mean
