rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
How would a thief get the key?

I mean, if you are aware enough to flip the kill switch, wouldn't you take the key?

I’ve had it on the past week so far no issues but i kept the oem relay just in case. It’s an easy switch if needed

SmartKeys can be cloned by a "scanner". Some people turn off the truck "looking for key" feature if it will be sitting unattended for a while so that monitor pulse cannot be scanned.

So wait, it’s like the key itself is a kill switch, and it’s portable. That’s the kind of kill switch we need. Like one that even makes the truck light up based upon proximity…

Super easy to install. I work out of my truck and i tend to leave my keys due to having my tool belt on me. So it’s a great thief deterrent for my truck.

The key is like a kill switch (something you have), while the kill switch is like a password (something you know).

    It's basically 2-factor authentication.

Like I said, I have one waiting to be installed, or did I install it already??? And I have 3 pedals, which may or may not be a deterrent.

I am confident that the folks around here who "borrow" trucks won't get far in a manual. Having a real key (as opposed to the "push this button to start") is one of the many benefits of the 3-pedal truck.

My alarm guy installed a kill switch for me a while back before this product came out. He just interrupted the power wire to the starter button and we hid the switch under the dash. It's convenient but well concealed. just used a toggle under the dash. Switch was just a couple of bucks.

Just don't park on a hill, or disabling the starter is useless when it's not needed.

a long time ago in a cross country drive, my starter went out and I had to park on hills to roll start it.

In my old Xterra I was out four wheeling with wife and we left a light on while we went for a hike and killed the battery... We pushed it to the edge of a hill, jumped in, popped that clutch, and away we went! Good thing too, cause I doubt anyone was gonna be out to rescue us.

    Brand new.
I did some research and that valve is a good idea but it doesn't allow about 5 % off oil to drain them the pan because of its design.

If you have the keyless push button ignition they can stand outside of your house with an amplifier and trick the truck into thinking you have the key.

Another example of technology that isn't actually enriching our lives... Glad to have a real key.

That was always my argument against them for a long while but someone on here posted a pic of it installed in a pan that was off the truck. The amount that it sticks up in the pan is negligible - like a thread or two. It's more like 1% or less of your total oil volume. I would bet in an oil change you still have more oil residually clinging to metal in the engine than this thing keeps in the sump. If you aren't anal enough to tear your entire engine down and clean all the parts to get the old oil out, and then reassemble every 5,000 miles then the amount this keeps back from draining isn't an issue.

Or you could change oil, drive it for a mile to get it all mixed in with the old stuff, and change it again after 1 mile. Goes from 5% to 0.25%.
