okay so i have an 07 2.7l 4wd and i need more power out of it bad. i have a k&n intake on it, a muffler and soon plan to do header back exhaust, but thats pretty much it. i am thinking about maybe boosting it with a turbo or super charger, but im nervous too. i cant afford to lose my truck so i am afraid to put one of these on and ruin my motor. also i can barely find anything about them anywhere for my year and motor, plus for a 4 cylinder. is there any other good way for me to get power or does anyone know anything else about the turbo/supercharger kits?

I was planning on doing a re gear to help turn my 33's, but i want more power than just that. any other ideas other than boosting it?

is it a s/c or is it supposed to be some other performance kit?

Supercharge that thing. Or turbo, but there doesn't seem to be any "bolt-on" kits. Not that any forced induction is ever a simple bolt-on.

well boosting it would deffinately be the best thing for power, but i really dont know a whole ton about them. how much of a risk will i be putting my motor under if i were to do that?

well, i need this truck to last for about 5 to 6 more years with little to no problems. is that going to be possible if i would put a super charger on it?

yeah, and thats still not too good at all. there just doesnt seem like there are very many options for trying to squeeze any power out of a 4 banger tacoma.

id like to trade it for a v6, but im going to work with what i have for now. probably wont ever put a turbo or supercharger on it, but i will squeeze every bit of power out of that motor in other ways.

Thing is, you should never care about power and buy a 4 cylinder. No matter what you do bolt on wise, you cant change the fact that your starting with 159 ponies at the crank ( probably about 128-130 whp) is hauling around 4000+ lbs of metal. Just doesnt make it fast

you have to remember too, do you like driving 5 speed? If so, you may want to keep the 4 cylinder. I test drove every combination possible last month looking for a new truck and I can tell you I hated the 6 speed V6. Didnt like the close gears, gas mileage will be horrible, and just didnt have a smooth feeling of a truck your spending 30+k on. The auto V6 is the way to go if you want one, but I like 5 speed much better and went with the 2.7

i have a 2.7 5 speed too. i have heard some pretty bad things about the six speed V6, and i dont have the money at all to get a new truck. i love the 5 speed too and it actually hauls the weight well, i just want more power.

i know, i just dont have the money to get a V6 and just want to make as much power as possible. it didnt do bad until i upped my tire size to 33's, now its a dog, especially on hills. i just wanted to see if anyone knew anything that may help my power at all.

just do all the mods you wanted to do with the urd calibrator..you can only get so much our of the 2.7,why you need so much power anyway? or you can trade it in and get the 4.0!!
