Inspected my low beams this morning, working just fine. Except for the haze all over these round lenses.

Can I easily wipe off these lenses if lights are removed? [Forget this, it's too complicated, and recommendations are just buy a new light. FT.]

I don't want to break any seals which would later allow moisture into the lights.

VVT system, head(s) bearings, I agree, all kinds of places oil does not drain out/off of...
If you were feeling froggy, grind the extra part off the threads sticking up in the pan and clean them up before installing...

Remember, vehicles with keys including chips were being stolen wayyyyy before the smart key (push button) starts were being stolen... lol

You would be better off installing the kill switch on the fuel side, that way it seems like a sensor/fuel system issue and not a kill for the starter...

Obviously, but .. Thieves are lazy. Car theft was dropping precipitously until the proliferation of easily hackable smart keys. Now theft is back on the rise since 2014, with juveniles comprising a bigger percentage of thefts every year.

    This and that
I’ve never pop started this truck, but imagine you’d have to push the csc button.
I’ve actually popped a couple of Vw’s that were push button starts and manual.

I guess sometimes it pays off to be short! After installing my ARB bumper I couldn’t quite reach to open hood with hood rod. Had to stand beside truck, only if I remembered to unclip rod from clip. It was a pita. So I installed redline tuning hood struts. So much better. And yes, it should be like this from factory. Question for y'all, I have not messed around with any other 3rd gens, but my hood feels like it weighs 100 pounds when raising it up compared to other hoods, is this a Taco thing or do I need to lube my hinges?? lol

Before deciding on the Fumoto valve, I watched the Team Oil Drop video of the fumoto long term review that affirms that it's not a big deal.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSv0-SoXYWI

Compared to the total oil capacity, the residual amount is negligible. I'd take the convenience every time.

As mentioned, I use an oil container (Chapin low profile). With the plastic tube connected to the Fumoto, I can direct the oil to the container drain hole. Little or no mess to clean up. Love that.

My 3rd gen hood feels pretty much the same as my first gen hood did. It's not a feather, but I wouldn't call it "heavy". Maybe make sure something isn't rubbing

I'm not sure whether it's the hood itself, or where the pivot points are, but the 3rd gen hood is ridiculously heavy for its size (my '90 SR5 had a similar size, but MUCH lighter). Combined with my general distaste for hood props (except as a last resort), getting the Redlines was a no-brainer, for me.

Agreed, I always thought my hood was heavy, compared to other vehicles I've had. I noticed that on day 1, first time I popped the hood.

Several options abound. One needs rivets on the engine bay that make people nervous, another does not need rivets but has design issues with MT. Both of those seem to work fine but serve different preferences.

The hood is indeed heavy. I've owned dozens of vehicles and my '23 Tacoma hood was very heavy from day 1. Bought it new. I struggled with it for awhile then added redline struts. Now opening it is totally easy and pleasant. Rivets and struts don't bother me. It's a truck ha ha.

Yeah, I have not unbolted it to see just how "heavy" it really is, but I have raised well over 25,000+ hoods in my career and this is one of a few that caught me off guard as to how heavy it felt when I raised it, my son thought the same thing...

The 1st time I raised it, I was wondering if it would stay up without any help, like the hinges were that tight at the pivot point...:rofl::rofl:But it shuts rather easy...

And yes I have had to lube hinges on older vehicles because the hood would stay up with NO help from the hood prop (or anything else) due to rusted pivot points...

More brush trimming/dumping. Took out another 7 or so skinnies again today. Ine pretty large tree got the saw today as well. The folks at the township recycling center know my address now .. no need to ask anymore.

Got most of my immediate yard done as well as most of my driveway... Working on my extended driveway/path back to my field. I still have a lot to do.

Great set up! May I ask if how flush does it sit on your cab side Of the load bin.
