The cherry picker is too small, back to the chain hoist on the trusses.. waiting for the boys to get off work, got a NOCO GCP put in my bumper for block heater and battery tenderer

 

Engine and trans dropped in

 

Whooohoooo!!!

 

I should've drained the transmission atf everywhere

Instead of sliding thr 4x4s on the trusses. We just lifted the engine and trans above the front clip and rolled the truck forward

 

No use in complaining about spilled ATF.

 

Got the transmission and motor bolted down, the tcase in, transmission oil cooler lines and t stat in, the ac compressor and power steering pump in today.. not too bad of a day, hopefully another good day tomorrow!

 

Well boys, its been a freakin day and a half.. finished the wiring for the ps pump, starter, alternator, fuse box, ecm and buttoned up the dash, installed a relay for the sc coolant pump on the fuse box, with all my other relays, secured all the wiring harnesses down, installed the exhaust and O2 sensors, fuel lines, serp belt, driveline from tcase to diff and got the supercharger put back on.. everything is torqued to spec.

All thats left is the sc belt, radiator and putting fluid in everything

 

That's quite a lot in just a couple of days!

 

All by myself too

 

keep it going bud. It will run like brand new soon!

 

This has been very interesting. I will offer a genuine and sincere tip of the hat to the OP for the determination and diligence on this project. Not to mention the burn rate of hundred dollar bills, LOL. Life, liberty, pursuit of happiness!

That all being said, if I may ask, I have a couple of questions for the OP:

* Reading through this post, I just didn't see anything where you really cracked the donor engine apart to look at the crankshaft, oil pump, cylinder walls, etc... I'm not sure if others noticed, but that way your engine was shipped on its side of an unsealed pallet is just a red flag for me personally. Did you pull the oil pan off your donor engine? Perhaps you did so and just didn't capture any pics. The compression test results were also awfully low and rather curtly dismissed. I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around the approach and how much mechanical risk I think you may be taking.

* What are you planning for a performance tune? Used engine. Unusual compression test results. Previous failure of the combination. How are you planning on preventing a repeat failure? I consider a dyno tune an absolute necessity. Are you going to datalog?

Unfortunately I was only able, to open up the valve cover, with having to get out of my buddies garage sooner rather than later, so I basically like an idiot, took the seller of the engines word and video of it running, that it was good. Yes. Complete moron. But with the engine being cold the tech said that those numbers with the leakdown test were good. You're right I didnt think about it being shipped on its side

Magnuson made a tune for the truck that im going to re dump in, just in case. I think the closest place i can dyno is like 4 hours away. And really the only way Im going to prevent that again is just baby it i guess.

*edit - thinking about it, another way to keep the engine from over working would be to re-gear, instead of something like a smaller pulley. The tech also borescoped the cylinders and they were in good shape as well

 

All put back together, gonna round up all the fluid and fire it up tomorrow, going to take tonight to think and make sure I got everything finished

 

Make sure it has oil and the filter is fresh
