Whether it’s good is yet to be determined. My truck had the new lines installed Saturday.

Is there anyone that’s had both recalls done? (Brake lines and sensor) or just brake line I guess. Trying to see if it’s a couple hour/same day job, or if I need to drop the truck off and get a ride.

I've not yet interacted with the service department for the dealership I bought my truck from, but I've definitely done something like that before. I've brought a vehicle in to have some work done, was told the parts weren't in and would take a while because of a shortage or something, and asked if I could take the vehicle (since the issue didn't make it undriveable or unsafe) and if they could call me when the parts came in. I always added that I wouldn't expect them to necessarily do the repair right away; after all, there were other people probably without their cars for longer. I would work with them to determine a time I could get them the vehicle again and they could put it in their queue as normal. I never had an advisor balk at that. Done it a couple times at a couple different places.

Helps to treat the folks at the dealership like the busy people with competing priorities that they are rather than peons who are commanded to fix my car right this second because I say so and because the universe revolves around my divine countenance. It might come from the fact that I worked as a repair technician (not cars, but it worked the same way) for almost a decade.

I mean, maybe I've just gotten lucky and have only run across reasonable people. Both Hanlon's and Occam's Razors seem to indicate to me that you more often get things when what you ask for is reasonable and you ask nicely. YMMV, I guess.

Just got the rear brake recall done. The distance between the wheel and brake line went from approximately 1/2" to 1 1/2". Time will tell how well the change will hold up.

Can someone post a picture of their Brake lines on their truck, after the fix? I would like to compare and see how much clearance the fix add?? I picked up a Iforcemax hybrid end of july, and changed my rims to 17" inch from 18inch, only have about 1 to 1.25 inches on the closest part of the line to the wheel, but with the +25 offset it moved it bit away from the rims.

The recall and fix are for non-hybrid Tacomas. When they expanded the recall to include the Sports (18" wheels), they did not include any hybrid which all have`18" wheels. I'm guessing the bigger brakes have slightly different brake line routing and don't require a fix. Or the bigger brake Tacomas require a different fix and they haven't figured it out yet? Making a second change to the initial recall would be embarrassing, but it could happen.

Assuming the hybrids have adequate brake line clearance, does the 1/2" less clearance from a 17" wheel put you in the danger zone? There are many users that have put 17s on THs and Pros with no reported problems. Of course there was only 1 (?) reported problem on the non-hybrids, so it is really an outlier scenario to begin with.

Not my pic, but this is what the "fix" looks like on a '25 with 17s.

Thank you for the reply and the pictures, i did come across this picture but couldn't tell what the new clearance was. That's exactly its what I was wondering if its snow buildup it can easily buildup over 1/2 inch. Plus I have heard that they may extend the recall later this year to include the hybrids. For the time being I will let it be, but did add heavy duty spiral wrap as a form of protection, not sure how much it will help, but its something.

If it ends up breaking, just take that wrap off before you go to the dealer and don't volunteer you did any "fix."

My dealer still does not have the parts but the next dealer over about 40 miles a way has done about 20 recalls already. I don’t get it. I am waiting for the part to take it in and do that, the software recall, diagnose more in depth why my battery keeps dying and an oil change.

Got the notice in the mail yesterday, says to wait until dealer has the parts. I've got 18in wheels and don't do any offroading, so not an immediate issue for me. I figure I'll wait for the 15k service in a few months and have it done.

I found this interesting. After another call to closest dealer and getting put off again I asked why some are getting this solved, and if I should try another dealer. The woman changed her dialog from "we have to wait for the parts" to "I'm ordering your parts". It would not be a surprise if they take care of folks who bought from the first, but that made me think they don't want to give up the warranty labor reimbursement and service business as well.
