What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I'm seeing heavy shackled padlocks. Sure, the bed ring and hoop aren't the strongest points you'll find, but it will give most thieves enough reason to maybe take a pass.

 

this is why I didn’t go nuts on the cable or lock, it’s just to stop the asshole opportunist from a grabbing and running.

 

The padlocks are good and the D ring by the tailgate is fairly tough but that cable is absolute garbage for anything other than the most basic security. And the front bed ring can be broken by applying some leverage with a screwdriver.

I'd only trust that set up if I was stopping for food/gas in a small town. Anything more than an hour of it sitting like that you are only stopping crime of opportunity, barely.

But if the bikes you have locked up are only a few hundred dollars or you never leave it parked unattended for more than 30 minutes then sure that is good enough but if you have a bike worth some real money or something flashy I'd get a hardened chain instead.

A lot of people think steel cable=strong, I just wanted to make sure you realized it's more for basic security and not to leave it sitting for long periods

Well, getting ready to put some new shoes on this thing before the rains come. Think I have narrowed them down to BF Goodrich KO 2s.

I have that same cable, as for the other posts, but in honesty reality, what crackhead meth head, gonna carry high dollar cable cutters, I'd say professional bike thief would carry such items, besides I'm never too long away from my bike, also I have a air pod glued inside the frame
