    Classic KTM engineering.

600ml down on a moto cooling system is A LOT to just vanish. Is the spark plug easy to get to on the 701's? if so you could pop it out and have a look down into the cylinder to see if its been vapor washed by coolant?

About 600ml, so it'd raise it from bottom of the sight glass to middle of the sight glass, which is about what I'm seeing. I don't know how much oil it's burned, though, smacking myself for not checking it more often.

I didn't get a look down the cylinder, but pulled both plugs last night.

    Inner:

    Outer:

Both look gunky, but fine. Not what I'd expect to see if it was a head gasket. I'd be expecting to see the porcelain bright white and less gunk, more clean. I'm assuming these are the original plugs with about 11,000 miles on them and up until a couple months ago the PC6 had a rich AF tune on it meant for a different exhaust.

I think the plan is to buy the water pump kit, coolant, two sets of filters, and enough oil to do two flush changes to try and get all the coolant out of the oiling system and cross my fingers from there.

Yeah those plugs dont look like they have been seeing coolant. Solid plan to change water pump seals and do a good oil flush.

That's awesome! Is that at Streets of Willow? I really want to try that track.

How is it switching between the R3 and Ducati? Must be quite a change lol

I am having a conversation with a guy from cali about the Harley. Asking a ton of questions and is looking at flights to come look. Not holding my breath but at least it has interest.

My buddy's KTM had the low oil pressure light on this morning. So he rode the old Versys again. He's hoping it's just the sensor. $30, and it's on it's way. And much easier to swap than others he's done. Don't have to remove the tank.

$174.27 in parts on their way to me, yay.

Sidebar: when the fuck did spark plugs get so expensive. Bike calls for iridiums at $18 and $19 each. Stupid dual spark.

I quoted a set of spark plugs for a 3rd gen at work the other day. NGKs were $24 each with my shop discount at a local parts store. It's insane how much they've gone up in the past few years.

Paid just under 100 for 4 plugs for the GSXR 750 when I had it. It is crazy.

Its them iridiums that are stupid expensive but yeah stuff has gone WAY up especially for those niche plugs. Luckily all of my stuff uses standard style plugs... tho the super tenere like your 701 has 2 plugs per cylinder.

First 4 pics are at Chuckwalla, last two are at Streets of Willow. Streets is a really fun track, especially on the smaller bikes, as it's pretty technical. I'll be going back in October and November if you might feel so inclined to join...they did just change ownership and spent the summer paving the tracks and adding to the facilities.

Switching between them is a huge change lol. Really have to rein in my throttle hand on the ducati, because the R3 is wide open much more often. The Ducati is surprisingly nimble though, I'd equate it to the R6.

Well no side stand today. Looks like tomorrow but I did receive the chain and sprockets. The parts pile has begun to develop in my home office

It'll probably be a little bit. But I'll definitely give you a shout when we start it

I'm still waiting on my shop to get started. Getting ridiculous at this point.
