It is. Wife had me there. She wanted a picture of him with a towel on his head for the bathroom she’s redoing. She was over my daughters house with her dog and they had them sit together and did it. I thought they really had towels on their heads in my daughters bathroom. They didn’t. Not even my daughters bathroom.

Granddaughters picked up a new squeaker for their buddy, she sure likes the toys they pick. When they sleep over she deserts us and sleeps with them. Instinctive. 20250831_195156.jpg 20250831_203009.jpg

Any thoughts on antlers for dogs chewing on? I’ve heard they can cause broken teeth but Piper loves them.

My dogs love the antlers. Never had an issue. I think they are better than the plastic ones.

They especially like the split ones where the "marrow" is available.

Kimo is a heavy chewer. I'd prefer not to have him crack a tooth. Especially since they require anesthesia to remove :yikes

My 2 Labs prefer beef bones. We get 100lbs at a time and serve them frozen.

Thanks for the responses. I’ve never given my pups antlers before but she destroys toys so fast and the antler seems to last and she enjoys it more. Not sure if they’re harder or softer than beef bones or splinter more or less.

Beef bones don't splinter if you don't cook them. My next door neighbors Malamute Wolf gets a whole raw chicken 3 times a week.

My take on anything hard DON'T DO IT. You ask why? My Malinois got water buffalo horns. But still cracked a tooth in half. Maybe a thing just her teeth but an extraction is $1500.00 and up.
We tried to save the tooth but the pulp was exposed so they couldn't do a root canal, which would have been $6000.00. Vet's recommend only giving them things you can stick your finger nails into.
This was our experience others might not ever have any problems.
We do have pet insurance on her too.

    The thread of opinions.
I've had dogs for over 50 years, never had any tooth problems with any of them. Although some dogs are more aggressive chewers, so there is that.
Deer and Elk antlers are fine for chewing, same as raw beef bones.
Yak Cheese, now that shits's hard and splinters in shards and gets small enough to choke on. Archer loves that stuff.
