That’s awesome! I was obsessed with these tents for a while.

I ended up getting a Super Pacific, so I have a built-in tent. But I am still fascinated by these tents.. maybe it would be nice for the kids :)

The 2 things that kept me from getting a RTT is storage when not in use and having to break camp if I want to drive somewhere. But having a fully made bed that you can hop into almost instantly is very appealing.
I kinda wanted a swag but I think the Oztent RV3 is a bit better for my needs.

That Oztent is so easy, I've used quick set tents before and this is next level easy. The only thing that sucks is the bag. I will see if I can get a larger aftermarket one from Australia.

Next up is finding a good queen size sleeping pad, I am thinking Lost Horizon because $500 for Exped is a little more than I want to spend

this is absolutely not an experience thing lol. The bed is made of a slick plastic. The rubber bed mat is necessary.

Oh ok didn't mean to "insult" you.
I myself have owned all sorts of pickups including 2nd and 3rd gen Tacomas.
My experience is that most things slide around in any truck bed without a mat.
Don't understand why a composite bed would be more slippery than a traditional pick up bed that is painted steel.

Thanks dude. It's the swiss army knife of vehicles.. affordable, reliable, versatile, looks good dirty, looks good clean, can go just about anywhere, not too big, and not too small. After all this time driving a taco it's hard to imagine driving anything else on a daily basis.

Does working on my topper count? I swapped out the old crusty bug mesh to some heavier dog/pet mesh I had left over from my screen door repair at the house. While the only issues I’ve had with my Snugtop was a leaking brake light and the factory installed Yakima tracks, it’s actually been pretty good. I bought it a few months after I got my truck in 2019 and it’s honestly held up fine for almost 100k miles. I know it’s fiberglass so I’m not expecting perfection but after working on it I noticed the craftsmanship is lacking, especially for 2,800 bucks. But, all in all it does its job and that’s what most people would expect.

    This and that
I’m guessing physics is the answer. And friction, probably some 3 syllable words too.

I did have 6 cans, number ten size (like a gallon of paint) in diameter but 2” high. I set them down on that mat, didn’t worry about them at all, didn’t even give em the “that’s not going anywhere slap”. They didn’t move in a 20 mile or so trip, with me behind the wheel. I know, if that mat wasn’t in there, I woulda heard those fuckers clanging all over the place.

Do what ever you have to do to fit HAND RAILS , even just 6 inches high, all around.
If omeone slips out..... bad. May be just enough room under to sit behind...

PVC pipe and wooden riser blocks though bolted to the deck would be enough!

I always carry the 2X6 boards that fit cross wise in the bed slots JUST to provide a slippery surface to slide things INTO the bed.

Have you ever tried to push a heavy cardboard box across a bed mat?

The box will come apart before you can slide it a foot! BTDT.

But .. the OEM bed mat lives in the bed always.

Note to add. the bed mat is not particularly a good thermal barrier against the cold.
Using air mattresses over the bed met is a cold nights sleep! Therma-lite is better!

Black looks good but I’d probably would never own a black vehicle just because of my OCD.

I owned a 2004 Mustang GT for a long time. It was shadow gray and it always looked good, it hid any imperfections pretty well too. I took real good care of that car, sold it about 11-12 years ago to my buddy. He always gets compliments how clean it is, probably has 125k miles on it now. Never thought I was a gray kind of guy but I sure like my cement Taco.

Not shabby for being on the road almost 22 years.

Ended up only having 2 kids on the trailer along with a dad, the girls were set in the center line between the cooler and the speakers for safety. But we had 20 girls dancing behind the trailer.

Now I get to convert this trailer into a mini camper before the snow hits in 2 months.
