Weather was awesome today, 73 and sunny. I was feeling a little better, so decided to go for a little ride. The cornering is night and day with the new front tire. Did some highway, then went into the hills and rode a little twisties. Stopped at the pumped storage hydro and took a pic. Good day.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
I can not say that is an attractive motorcycle. To me.

But then, there are some angles that I don't like the looks of my VFR800..

Dont wish too soon. Mine come in there but its stressful. They take tools and walk around with them so you have to watch what theyre doing.

I'll definitely try to make it out next year but we're expecting a kid in a few months so not sure how much time I'll have! My wife says I should still go track but depends on how much sleep I'll be getting. :p

Friday I rode the Super Tenere to a friend's place to install some Mosko Moto panniers because I don't want to take the hard cases on the BDR.

    upload_2025-9-7_7-46-29.png

Then I rode to Yosemite to camp:

    upload_2025-9-7_7-47-0.png

Woke up at 4 AM to hike Half Dome:

I was supposed to stay at an AirBnb with friends but I was finished so much earlier than I thought I would that I ended up just riding back home. On the way home I hi 40k miles on the way out of Yosemite:

Massive congratulations on the kid, man! Life changing for sure but worth it. Definitely will cut into the riding time a bit haha

Thanks!! That's why I'm trying my hardest to do as much as possible before the baby is born, including the BDR and yesterday's hike! I don't know when the next time will be when I'll have time to do anything.

Although, you continuing to ride after having your kid is very inspiring. A lot of my friends are asking if I'm going to quit riding entirely. I actually got the WR because I can just take it out for a quick fun ride in the mornings.

Yeah the riding will slow a bit but after a bit picks up too. Was tough not finding a spot when not tired lol

I hung up riding when my oldest turned 1. I was thinking too much about what ifs while riding and didn’t feel safe. Started again when he turned 10. Never had that feeling again.

Get that, first. First couple years I didn’t get it in much. I actually had an accident like a year before my kid and still kept it going lol

I did the same. When oldest turned one, stopped riding. When he turned 8 bought dirt bikes for both of us. When he turned 16, this year, bought a dual sport for him and a street bike for me. Youngest turned 13 this year as well. Wife was okay at this point with me getting back on the road.

95% of my riding is just commuting. You still have a nice commute? You disappeared for a while so haven't heard much on your job situation after the last change a year or two ago. Better than nothing!

I'm about to go take the 701 for a rip while the wife and toddler go down for a nap. Fingers crossed get it hot, keep an eye on the coolant level, and all the mystery disappearing coolant has stopped, then one final oil change and I can be done with this nonsense.

Are you still trying to sell the 701?

Yeah, still for sale, so hoping to get this fixed and worked out quickly. And i’m not the type to sell it was an undisclosed known issue

Also, just realized I have a fork leg weaping a surprising amount of oil. while sitting here waiting for it to cool down enough to check the rad and oil. When it rains it pours.

Reminds me of a day I rode my KTM to our off road park and was in line at the entrance behind a lifted pick up with two bikes in the bed. A full size serious MX bike and a kids version next to it. I thought "Dad and son riding together how cool". Was I wrong; out stepped a mom and her daughter.....I loved it.

My daughter, 13, has no interest in bikes. She has a Honda TRX250ex instead.

I still swear to this date, I've never had more fun than on a 2wd quad, I've bombed through forests and mountains on my WR at highway speed, but the quad was just too much fun. Just sucks they are limited to specific terrains which we don't really have here. My only issue is hill climbs with quads have risk of falling on the rider, I knew a fellow that died because of a lung puncture and ems was too far out. Chest gear would be a priority for me. I don't really wear it with my dirt bike, but I should.
