Love to see a picture(s) of the neighbors Malamute/Wolf, I absolutely love them...

    Very true..
Having Pitties, we have had problems finding stuff they can't destroy in a short period of time, had one girl that damaged a big all metal kennel, torn some of the metal bars out/away from the kennel... lol

This is our newest addition to our pack - meet Mousse!
Yet another Peke for us, over the years. He's about 4 months and a whopping 7 pounds! Ultra mellow little snuggler, but definitely has some serious Pekeatude moments!
We chose the name because we like the irony of the pronunciation, combined with his mom being S'Mores, and his sisters got named Hersey and Oreo.
He's adjusting to his new digs pretty well, but going down stairs is still pretty dicey, so that's why he's in his little green "doggie" bag!

Rescued this guy the other month. Integrated with my other dogs very quick and best buds with the one. Why he was a return we don’t get. Lots of good attitude and love. He’s a ball of energy.

I think people go with the best intentions but you don't always get a straight answer from the shelter because they don't always know what the situation is.

Sometimes it’s not a great fit. The people who returned the pup may not have gotten a good connection or maybe the pup rejected them. I have a cocker who doesn’t like most men at first. She is super standoffish and will just bark. Teenagers no problem, kids no problem but most adult males she is a freak. She will adjust but it does take time. It’s strange because some guys she acts like they’re besties right away.

Very true, we focus on trying to see dogs nature and that’ll be a good fit with the fam.

Some pounds really push you to adopt before you can spend a decent amount of time with the dog, walk it, interact, see if it calms down in a reasonable amount of time, is friendly and what habits they have.

When I got my last one they wanted an answer in 10 minutes or so. 10 minutes isn't anywhere enough time to find anything out that is important. I came back another day and spent close to two hours with her inside and walking her in the fenced in area and on a leash. I walked by outside cages with other dogs to see her reactions to different ones and had her do a few simple commands and to see if she listened [and her ears worked].

Never got a bad dog yet, you just have to take the time.

If a shelter is pushing you toward a decision, that's a red flag. Things I'm talking about are behavior characteristics. Like resource hoarding. Might not find out about that until you get home. Same with fight/flight situations. Some dogs do not like to be touched or worse, smothered. Pursuit reflex is hard to measure as well. If you went to the beach, you might think you have excellent recall but a small dog running past might provoke a different reaction.

There's a lot of stuff that could bring a dog back.
