I've lurked the Lift thread for a good while, some interesting reading to be done there to say the least.. As per usual I fall right between their tunes, and for the same $$$ I went Grip X2 on my 38 instead, and got my 36 Grip2 reworked by Fluid Focus. I figured it would be less difficult to resale if I hated it. No regrets on the X2 though, it's the best damper Fox has put out since the OG Talas afaic. I'm squarely off team orange and on team yellow these days, Ohlins just makes a vastly superior product in my experience. I'm planning on swapping the Druid over once the new stuff lands state-side.

    Yeah.
I always keep small scraps of 2x4 and 4x4 around, or various other pieces of wood. I use the ends/corners for things like that, start by tapping lightly and increasing to whatever it takes to get it to move, then work around it evenly. I do the same when setting.

Thanks! I used a PVC to set the race, works perfectly. Only had to remove one once (which may or may not have been due to some dope cutting the steerer tube too short :anonymous:)

We had a big volunteer meeting for the park liaisons within our local trail org. One of the liaisons specifically focuses on adaptive riding and brought some to test. I got to do a ride on the trail. It was super cool and really impressive how capable they actually are. Width is a factor for sure but other than that it could ride pretty much everything. Not quite as fast but still fun!IMG_1681.jpg

We have a good buddy that had a bad accident a few years ago and is now an adaptive rider. He was super involved in the local mountain bike scene before his accident and now he helps rebuild trails around here with adaptive riders in mind. The two things that seem to limit him are trail width and horizontal slope/lean. Occasionally he gets high centered on a big rock but usually he just kinda plows through that. He’s on a bowhead bike; it’s an amazing piece of engineering.

Is Maxxis Dual compound worth consideration?
Still undecided on tires, considering trying out the models that are currently on sale.

Maxxis Assegai (EXO TR) 2.6 for $70
    Or... for the same price.
    Specialized Butcher (grid trail T9) 2.6 $69.

So arguably, the better tire (Maxxis) vs the better compound/casing (Specialized)

    Thoughts?

Dual is ok on the rear for dry conditions. I've had a couple Aggressors / Highroller IIs , they last for a long time even on the eeb.

I absolutely love the Butcher. Never have run Maxxis, but I'm very impressed with the Specialized tires over the Schwalbes I've been running. And i'm still happy with Schwalbe, the grip on the Butcher is just awesome, in my opinion

Yeah the horizontal lean is big too. The adaptive liaison was constantly like lean this way, lean that way because of how common it is to roll. I would think for someone with limited mobility it’s a fairly steep learning curve but also imagine it’s worth it for the ability to really gain some mobility back. We were talking about the bowheads, can’t imagine how much those cost. I think the one I was on would be $20k to buy new. That’s a full aluminum frame with standard fox performance shocks on 3 corners.

Maxxis is the “control” brand in tire experiments for comparisons. I do like me some butchers though.
