    Hi
Has anyone either blacked out or did something else to cover the aluminum areas on these sport wheels? Thanks!

There’s a 3rd party kit, that has “decals”, in the dark grey color. I read the reviews , and decided against it……mixed results, and install looked difficult to get just right…….

wish Toyota had offered a glossy black rim option……..

I changed lug nuts to black……looks better

DO NOT try the vinyl solutions out there. They are all junk and look awful. I tried 3 different ones. 2 pre-cut and then ordered a roll of vinyl and all three did not look good. Just go get them painted or powder coated. If not buy new wheels and sell those.

I don’t think there’s a big market for 4th gen Sport rims…….theyre not popular or pretty, and lots of them for sale

Nothing special. Rust-Oleum I believe. Key is cleaning the wheel. I used a degreaser and then a concoction I made (contains isopropyl alcohol). I have had success with lots of wheels in different colors. I always do light coats and do 3 or 4 sprays. I then go back with a a couple sprays of clear coat.

Plastidip would be perfect for this since it’s not totally permanent. Pressure washer takes it off a lot better than anything else. I still own a car I plastidipped wheels on 10 years ago. Looks fine except when I had new tires on they had to move the magnets and I never touched it up.

I bet you could mask off the spokes and hit the silver edges with a few coats of black dip then put a few nice gunmetal coats on there and make them look spectacular. I don’t have an issue with the Sport rims but may do this in the future.

If I am painting my wheels, it is to be permanent. I absolutely hate plastidip. I know some like it, but it peels too easily and starts looking like shit to me. One of my good friends swears by it, but no thanks. :puke:

To be fair, if it peels easily, it wasn’t prepped properly or there’s not enough coats (requires at least 4 base coats, then 3-4 coats of color).

I’ve debated not plastidipping because it’s so hard to get off. Still better than spray paint plus adds a nice layer of protection,

I’m sure you agree that any rattle can job whether spray paint or dip doesn’t look great compared to automotive paint with a clear.
