I laughed at this because I wonder how many people don’t get this reference.

Nice car. When it comes to styling across their entire lineup: 1957 was a very good year for General Motors.

I had a '57 Olds 88 that I bought in '69 or '70 for $30. Not a dent in it, and no rust at all. I drove it home and it would barely do 60 on the freeway. Did a carburetor adjustment, cleaned the points and retimed it... and it would lay 30 feet of rubber and top end over 120. Eventually I rebuilt the engine and tweaked it a little and the highway patrol clocked it over 140. (That's another story) One of the reasons it would top end was that it had a 4-speed Hydra-Matic transmission when other cars even into the sixties were running two speed automatics.
1957 was a good year for GM...

A 1957 Buick Century with the 364 ci 300 hp Nailhead V8 tested as one the fastest production cars in the United States that year. They were very popular as Police cars.

Ah yes: The: "Deuce-and-a Quarter". I drove one back in the day that a co-worker owned. Coupe: Brand new. It was like flying an airplane in clear air: smooth, quiet and powerful. It used more fuel than a lot of planes too but he didn't care.

I think if we could have pivoted/turned those huge doors on either side to be flat like actual wings, it would have lifted off too... It certainly seemed to have enough power to accomplish it. lol Awesome cars. Brings back memories. Thanks for posting it. :proposetoast:

IMO, the only period-correct solution is a sixpack cooler behind the seat.
