2002 Tacoma 2.4ltr. Hard to tell what's in it. Could be red or old pink getting dirty. Could I use either to replace it?

Red is what originally came in it and I only use genuine Toyota.

If it came with red, keep it red. Toyota red should be changed every 30k.

In toyota versions it doesn't matter ......personal choice......just need to flush old out well....

    Coolant Types
    • Toyota Genuine Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant: This coolant works for most Toyota models. It features a pink color and is meant to last up to 100,000 miles or five years.
    • Toyota Super Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant: Designed for newer models, this coolant is typically red and offers even longer service intervals, lasting up to 150,000 miles or ten years in some circumstances.

because of internal rubber stuff and the metal head gasket you need to use one of the toyotas....any HOAT knockoff...

or the basic Prestone or Peak........any others may damage

says you can mix prestone/peak with anything.......but I wouldnt do it.....
    always flush it well

I would change the long life every 36mos...
the red I would do it 5yrs or less
    pretty important stuff

I use the old fashion Prestone from wally world....36mos.....

Anyone know where to find the red concentrate that needs to be mixed?

Only the Toyota "Long Life" comes undiluted.

Honestly, just get Toyota compatible coolant thats pre-mixed, or switch to "Super Long Life" which is premixed. It saves a lot of hassle.

But for reference, Long Life is red, Super Long Life is Pink. You can use Pink with red, but should flush system first which you plan on doing.

Any Asian coolant brand will work. I recently switched to Valvoline Zerex from Toyota SLLC in my 3rd gen. Not a ton of difference consistency or color wise.
