It's preferred to rest the rifle in a very stable setup - whether it's on a rifle stand, sand bags, anywhere you can get it to sit where you have access to it from behind

Pull the bolt and carefully peer down the barrel until you are dead center on your target

Look through your scope (without touching the rifle) and adjust your reticle center on your target

Do this once more, looking down the barrel and confirming yet again through your scope

Once you shoot that first round, you should be within 2-4 inches of your target even at 100 yards

Physically move your rifle so that your reticle is again direct center of your target, then adjust your reticle until it moves to your point of impact

Next shot should be dead on

    I must've misunderstood

I thought you meant, you didn't know where to start with getting it zeroed my bad. That method up there is tried and true and I've done it for years teaching others to shoot at any range.

Yeah long range gets expensive and you're not getting there on a cheap scope unfortunately - you start getting that nasty mirage image and blurriness even on sub $1k scopes if you intend to shoot over 1,500 - 2,000 yards. Extended long range is even more expensive as you'll want to get your own projectiles turned on a lathe or custom made somehow. I used to do group buys with the guys on Calguns for that.

Over the counter stuff will get you doing short-mid range easily which is basically 1,000 yards and less.

I'd be happy with 500, normally stick with the bow but decided to try something different this year

Compound, when I shot a lot I could hit a paper plate consistently at 120 yards, would shoot deer that far for sure but it was fun.

I need the lunchtable braintrusts input

Do we think my shell is made for an ext cab, and the cab gasket is just worn

Or is it actually made for a regular cab and that’s why it’s never sealed at the cab right
Bottom part of the gasket is basically fully compressed

Third option; it’s actually not even a 1st gen Tacoma shell, it just fits extremely well other than the cab gasket

    Make and model unknown

I know you would genuinely let me use your tools but I wouldn't know how

There's the use of a certain style vise that's needed, then specific tools for material removal and finishing passes, not to mention the radius needed at the tip of the punch I need made.

    I'd need a machinist :anonymous:

I been spending hours on YouTube watching amateur machinest. I’m about ready to hop on and give it a try. Just start taking passes at some round stock to figure out how everything works
