Every TPMS thread I could find seemed either to address the warning light flashing for a minute and then staying solid, or people needing new sensors, or people wanting to disable their TPMS systems. If anyone has a lead on what I describe below, I'll greatly appreciate the help.

I just got a 2006 Tacoma, double cab, TRD Sport for my daughter to drive. When I got it, I knew the tires were shot and that it had no TPMS sensors. I went ahead and got aftermarket wheels (the old ones were pretty rough), installed new Autel sensors (which I cloned based on the codes already in the truck's computer), and got tires put on. I should add that, even though I'm nowhere close to an expert at this kind of work, the first four sets of Autel sensors that I installed a few years ago are all working fine still.

The problem: Before getting the new tires, sensors, etc., I had the standard solid TPMS light announcing that I didn't have sensors. Since pulling out of the tire shop, I have a continually flashing TPMS light instead. I tried using the reset button, hoping that the pressure just needed registered, but after the three slow blinks it went back to the continual flashing. My Autel scanner says that all four sensors are working, but that I have C2121, C2122, C2123, C2124, and C2125 codes showing. From reading on here, that appears to mean that information isn't going from the sensors to the truck--any of the sensors. Since the sensors show good, what should I check next? Being in West Virginia, I need to get this cleared up before the truck will pass inspection, and I don't want to simply bypass/disable the system.

You installed 4 new sensors? The codes are for all 5 sensors, the spare included.

They put a 5th sensor in the spare in 2006. You'll need one there too. I think that either 2008 or 2009 was the last year they used 5

Thanks, Marshall R. In this case, the truck doesn't have a spare tire (I guess because the previous owner's choice of oversized tires made it pointless), but I have run into that on another vehicle in the past.

You said you programmed universal sensors with the existing IDs but are they the correct frequency for the truck? There's 2 TPMS frequencies (315MHz & 433MHz), I can look at my TMPS tool tomorrow but I believe 2nd gens are 315MHz

I believe you can set the ID for sensor 5 in the TPMS ECU to all 0s to disable the 5th sensor.

Thanks, Dm93. I believe you're right that 2nd gen uses 315 MHz. The Autel sensors I have are supposed to operate on both frequencies, and they have worked fine on my 2011 Tacoma (and also a 2012 Sienna).

I may go back and delete the 5th sensor, just to see if that gets rid of an error. I still wonder what else may be malfunctioning that would show all five sensor positions as "No signal"...
