Toyota should consider deleting out the power tailgate from OR premium/TH/Pro packages and offering it as a standalone option. Same for pop out speakers and Iso seats. Replace with real front grab handles, 21gal tank, rear center arm rest. Slap on a finished rear window seal, and good to go.

I was emphasizing on when adding katskin leather seat covers which may hinder the heated or ventilation features.

Katzkin replaces the original seat fabric, it doesn't go over it. So there should be no impact to the existing seat heaters.

Other slip-over covers impact to heating will vary by the material. Neoprene covers would be more insulative, taking a little longer to feel the heat, other thinner materials probably wouldn't have a noticeable impact.

Impact to ventilation is moot - it's only in the Premium package along with the power tailgate and Softex seats. That said, Katzkin does offer a ventilation option if that is an important point for OP

Got it. I’ve never had aftermarket seat covers before so this was new to me.

Yes! Rear center arm rest! Toyota, you heard it here!!

I have the power tailgate and I will say, it has gotten hung up and confused me why. It got stuck randomly a few times halfway closed, then I had to manually push it closed because it wouldn’t activate with the button, only got caught up once on the tonneau cover because my umbrella got jammed up. It’s something I’m doing wrong but just haven’t figured out how to prevent it yet.

Adding that the power tailgate is really nice to have, especially knee assist as I’m doing quite a bit of unloading and don’t have free hands to close it.

Disagree. Forums give outsized impressions of reality. They also have a heavy bias towards the negatives, because people take less time vocalizing when they are happy vs frustrated.

I have a power tailgate and I've had zero issues. Not a single time has it even protested against my tonneau cover mating.

Agree with others, you're amplifying something that doesn't need to be worrying you.

So there are millions if not trillions of SUV’s with auto close / open hatches. It’s the same concept and function.

Although I do get the OP’s “wants” of wanting to slam a trucks tailgate manually to make yourself feel more manly! ;)

Cut that out. He just wants to shut the door without waiting on it. Nothing wrong with that.

I wouldn't be as opposed to the powered hatches and tailgates on vehicles if there was a manual overide that functioned the same as a non powered hatch or tailgate. It's the loss of the manual operation that I do not like.

You mentioned having a tonneau cover wich is almost a must have with a power tailgate to keep debri out of the bed and washing down into where the tailgate closes after it rains.

People are looking for a soultion to operate the power tailgate manually if a problem occurs. Which will be a must have later down the road when someone buys that 10 year old Limited trim to mow yards on the weekends.

Waiting on what exactly? Cause all you need to do is push the button and walk away.

I don’t get the problems or issues. I have a 10 year old bmw and 6 year old Subaru with a rear auto hatch that still works as intended automatically. It’s the same shit with the tailgate.

Good god. I’ve never seen so much cry babies on a forum as much as this and the other 4G truck forum…

People have been loading and unloading pick ups with tailgates for decades with only two hands. Once the tailgate is opened it lays flat hands free. When unloading get a cart, make mutiple trips, or leave the tailgate closed. Do the reverse when loading.

You do you and another person will do them. Keep your morality drama inside your head "Although I do get the OP’s “wants” of wanting to slam a trucks tailgate manually to make yourself feel more manly!"

I don't like the automed mechanism as they are slow and probably don't work with a dead battery.

If your truck has a dead battery, the tailgate not opening or closing is the least of your worries I would think.
