I called the MB dealer to get an update on the car. The rear springs are cracked at the lower perch and they feel they will damage the exhaust resonator when removing it. Those two items are over $2700.00. They want $988 foe the springs alone. So I asked for the part numbers and searched online. MB of Warwick RI has the springs for $133 each with a listed MSRP of $155. So the dealer got back a rather pointed email with screenshots…

I need to do several things for the 4Runner, water pump, belt, flush, brakes etc. It’s got 122k on it now, everything is still good, got a quote from teh local dealer without doing the brakes and they wanted 2k to do it all. I thought, well much better then the first place I stopped, but then I looked online and saw the prices on their website, cheaper for me to buy the parts online then take it to them to install. Figure that one out.

I should hit 200k on this next trip.

Detailing the inside for the 2nd time in 15 years, will wash the outside tomorrow and possibly the engine bay for the first time.

When I get back i will do a drain and fill on everything but the PS as it was just done.

    Happy Friday to all!

Latest SNAFU: Yesterday, while taking moving boxes down to the garage and loading into my Tacoma, I started hearing a significant volume of water running. Inside the garage wall to the living room. ...... ............. WTF?? There should not be any pipes in that wall, what the hell is going on?? So my wife noticed in the small utility closet right by the kitchen-garage door, there is a removable panel in the wall. Remove the panel... and what do we find...
    808f567cb76cfae8e1d67e2a77b1f994.jpg

a mini water heater. Apparently for the kitchen. The flex pipe closest to the camera is split, and water was gushing everywhere. Fortunately, the person who installed it, put a shutoff valve on that inlet side, just above the area in view, and I was able to shut it off. We haven't had hot water in the kitchen sink for months, but have no money to call a plumber to look into it. My guess is, this heater died several months ago, hence no hot water in the kitchen. We had no idea there was a separate heater for the kitchen. The main water heater in at the far opposite end of the house, it serves both bathrooms and the laundry room. Just one more on the ever growing list of disasters with this house. I guess losing the place to foreclosure, and therefore not having to worry about fixing anything to make it sellable, is turning out to be a blessing in disguise. We are currently in the process of moving, trying to be out by the end of September. My wife's parents, who live in the next town over, have a rental property that just came available, and they are gracious enough to let us move in, with the agreement that if I am ever able to find another job, we will rent it from them. So at least we will be out before they nail the Foreclosure / Eviction Notice on the front door of the "Money Pit" hellhouse. I told my wife last night, this house reminds me of an episode of, I think South Park, where someone built a house on top of a Native American burial ground, but first dug up all the bodies and re-buried them upside down with their asses facing up. And of course, all manner of ghosts and ghouls started showing up :rofl::rofl::rofl::crapstorm::crapstorm::crapstorm::crapstorm:

/Edit to add: I forgot to also mention, the kitchen sink drain plugged up solid about 3 months ago. We went to Lowes, bought a 25 foot snake, took the trap off and ran the entire snake all the way to it's end. Nothing. Dumped 3 bottles of Liquid Plummer down the drain. Nothing. Weirdest part - some nights, the sink will drain by morning, and other days, water stands for days on end. Everytime we run the dish washer, we have to manually bail out the sink into a 5 gallon bucket, to keep the sink from overflowing onto the kitchen floor. Yeah. So not sorry to be moving out of this place.... I will miss the secluded property, though.

    Thank you :)

I have been contemplating the age old saying "That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger" a lot over these last 2 years. I have two thoughts about it. 1) If this were true, I would be Ultra Superman by now. And 2) why then has my physical health been going to shit so dramatically over the last 6-8 months???? :annoyed::crapstorm::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

At least you can laugh about the house issues.

I bet the venting is plugged for the sink.

    Probably a fat raccoon

Honestly, I would take a picture, print it out and stick it in the mailbox.

If, the next day, he has curtains, he didn't realize people could see him.

If things dont change, he doesn't care.

If his lighting improves, he is doing it on purpose

The plot thickens on the car. The dealership has their own online store. I priced out the parts and there even less expensive that what I had found. So I called to see if I order online will they install. Answer: Oh no, those prices are for wholesale and you’re a retail customer. So why can I buy the parts online if it’s only wholesale??? I told them to forget it, do the warranty work and I’ll gladly pay my independent shop to change the other parts…

    I hate dealing with people

He has to realize, today he kinda looked at me when I walked out the service door of the garage. He’s an odd fellow, he does pushups on his front porch, most of the neighbors thinks he’s a bit odd. His wife cuts hair for a living, she’ll do his and friends hair on the front porch. Then there’s the religious thing, but I better stop. When they moved in they had a 8’ tall black cross they unloaded. :eek:o_O:confused:
