    Hey all,
Recently did drain/fill on my 2018.
Read afterwards about pinning the solenoid as I have the tow package.
I didn't know about that. I drained and filled, adding 1/2 quart more than I took out. Then, warmed it up to 95-99 and drained the excess. How bad did I mess up ?

Can't be too bad: I have done two transmission drain-and fills and a flush on my 2014 and have been a member here since 2021, and have never heard that term in here before now. ("pin the solenoid") Whatever that is: It might be legit, but IMO messing with any solenoid sounds more risky than changing the fluid.

If it matters, I have the factory tow package and 144,000 miles on the truck.

The solenoid opens the line going to the transmission cooler, it’s shut until the temperature reaches around 180-200 degrees

Thanks! :proposetoast: Wherever it is or how it's "pinned", I'll be leaving it alone. I figure it makes for a pint difference on a good day. My luck it will get stuck open, (or I'll forget to switch it back), the pin will snap, or it will have a "drip" leak there forever-more.

You did not. I did change with pinning and without. Same amount drained both times

I’ve done mine several times and never pinned it.

There’s nothing wrong with leaving it pinned, some people will pin the solenoid on a brand new vehicle just because they don’t want their transmission temps to be higher than 180 ever

I've had my transmission cooler thermostat pinned open for years. It hurts nothing in my area. If you lived in a super cold area, you might want to unpin the thermostat.
