Installed the factory red tow hooks (found them on Fred Anderson Toyota for $75 less due to this site). I have the factory exhaust pipe with the Toyota black extension. Thinking about removing this and put the small one that stays hidden under the truck. Are there any disadvantages to going to route?

I added the axle dump exhaust from Toyota to my 24 off-road about 3 months ago. Visually I would say it looks more appealing not having the exhaust pipe hanging down. The axle dump exhaust does change the sound of the vehicle to a lower note. Other than that I have experienced no real changes to truck performance.

I tow a camper so I have added airbags to the rear suspension for leveling truck and trailer. Even though I ran the lines for filling the airbags high up on top of the frame removing the exhaust gives me added peace of mind that there won't be a buildup of heat under the rear section of the truck that could melt lines.

Thank you for the response and details. Did you purchase yours from the dealer?

Which airbags. Earlier this year I had the worst time with the Firestone ones.

I installed the Firestone 2599 I believe. Was fairly straightforward. I am still looking for some brackets to remount the electric brake modules I currently have these secured with heavy duty zip ties. I had a choice between these and the airlifter bags. I chose to go with the Firestone product because it appears to allow for more articulation and won't damage the airbags whereas the reviews were mixed on the air lifter. However, the air lifter product looked easier to install and it has the electric brake wiring harness relocation kit which you can't buy separately from them, I tried.

Overall, the installation took me about 2 and 1/2 hours and I found that the trick was to actually install both airbags at the same time by using a Jack under the rear differential. It also helps to remove the spare tire.

I should mention that I did not install the compressor and just manually fill and deflate the airbags.

No disadvantages. You'll hardly notice any sound difference. These are good options. I have the ATH axle dump and love it. I hate the way the stock exhaust looks. To make it easier to get the stock exhaust out. Put a jack under the hitch and jack up the rear end for the rear axle is hanging. This gives you more room to get the exhaust out.

Thank you very much for the info and links. Much better prices on the ones you sent also. Do you know anything about the sound going through the radio, etc?

There is exhaust sound pumped through the speakers inside. You can turn that off, and make a variety of other changes, using the Carista OBDII device.

Yeah, there's 2 sound options. Active noise canceling and engine sounds. Both are thru the speakers.
