Does anyone make an aftermarket pad and rotor that's better than OEM?

The last time I did pads and rotors on my 2009 Tacoma, they were noisy, and the rotors warped within two years. I drive like an old man. My driving style is VERY conservative.

I've lost faith in OEM Toyota pads and rotors.

Who makes a good, high-quality, aftermarket "daily driver" set?

    Thanks.

Were the pads properly bedded when all that was replaced?

Old man street driving doesn't create enough heat to cause cast iron rotors to warp.

They can have pad material build up that make them pulsate, especially under light braking, and the term warp gets thrown around. This is often due to improper bedding. Often they can be cleaned, bedded, and be fine.

Additionally, make sure your rear brakes are clean, appropriate points lubed, and properly adjusted to allow them to work well. This reduces load on the fronts. Many people are careless and have a very low braking contribution from the rears

100% I have yet to see better pads than OEM, it sounds like your pads were embeded into the rotors causing a pulsation. Agree with Bill. Service rear brakes and use quality parts is all you can do.

Akebono is my only alternative brand I'd suggest for pads. As for rotors, I rarely see issues with OEM, but we can always attribute issues to any aftermarket.

But if you really want heres my suggestions.

OEM is semi-metallic. Try ceramic pads from the OEM supplier, Advics AD0976. I run that part number on both of my Toyotas.

For rotors I use Raybestos R-300 slotted. The slots keep the pads clean, avoiding deposit transfer (and the accompanying noise/vibration). The slots aid in water evacuation driving out of water crossings off road.
