I'll never understand people's obsession with Rush. The singer's voice is high pitched and irritating. Neil's drumming is technically proficient as fuck to the point where it sounds robotic and frankly uninteresting. The bigger these guy's drumsets get the more I roll my eyes and yawn

I need some swing and a human feel - like Led Zep or Sabbath

    Fight me :D

No need to fight. Can’t we all just get along?

In my case it’s not an obsession but more it’s different than just about anything else out there. In between plagiarizing LZ is pretty good.

One of several bands that bring fond memories of the late 70s, early 80s for me. Neil rode motorcycles, so that added to his appeal for me. It’s not RUSH without all three members getting their due.

Well, Neil is the only name I knew, so this is probably true.

    This.

In the rock world there was Rush and then everything else. It was unique and we felt it.

My neighbor in the 2000’s was a drummer in the 80's for Diamond Head.

I remember him saying, in his British accent: When Rush came onto the scene during the Moving Pictures tour it was ruinous for the metal world. There was Geddy playing the bass, and foot organ while singing and that wall of tasty unique sound could not be answered. And then, Neil…

With a smile he said, head down and keep banging metal while pretending Rush doesn’t exist.

If only Rush had a pedophile in the group they’d really been as good as zeppelin damn

I grew up in less than desirable circumstances and music, violence and school were my escapes. Later alcohol and drugs offered some release but every time I listened to Rush and delved into what Neil Peart was saying with his lyrics I felt like I was safe from myself and maybe there could be hope. "Something for Nothing" made so much sense to me when not much of anything else did. I have few hero's in my life but Neil Peart is one of them. Never thought Id see 30 not alone 66. I liked what Neil was doing so much I tried to imitate him and eventually became a writer myself.
