Avid Off-Road Step Rails

Hi all,

I got my step rails today and painted them with Rustoleum Bed Liner - 2 coats. The part kit came with 12 bolts and 12 washers. Before I run to the hardware store to get 12 nuts, are they required?

No, they screw directly into your truck where I am assuming the OEM step bars screw into. There is little rubber/plastic caps you need to pop off to get to them though. Look under your truck by the doors and you should be able to see them. You can also line up the step bars to the truck and get a better idea of their locations.

No problem. An extra set of hands wouldnt hurt neither. I had to lay down and use my knees to keep up the other end of the bars to get the first screws into the truck. But it can be done alone too.

Be sure and post some pics. I've been thinking about them for my truck. Will be nice to see them on a Timberland Mica too.

Ordered a set about 3 weeks ago still waiting for them to come in. Post some pictures I was thinking of painting with Bedliner too.

 

i just talked to brandon today about making me a bumper and he said he just shipped out a bunch of stuff. so maybe yours was in there! just an fyi

 

I ordered mine March 7th and just got them today. I will post pics when installed, hopefully tomorrow. They are pretty heavy - 53 lbs.

 

yeah he said hes extremely busy working 6-7 day weeks to catch up. make sure to get those pics!

 

He's been great about emailing with updates. Hopefully I'll get them before the Bridgeport run. Looking forward to seeing pictures that's how I want to paint mine.

Okay, I got them installed this morning. It was pretty difficult by myself, but I pulled out my jack stands to assist. I adjusted the height of my jack stands to their next to highest setting, and slide them in place under the truck. I them played limbo underneath them and loosely bolted the two middle bolts into place and then moved the ends into their correct settings.

I'll forewarn you, I'm probably not the best person to ask help you paint. I'm pretty disappointed with my spray paint job, but oh well.






They are very sturdy, and well made. I would recommend them to anyone.

 

Also, those aren't dried paint drops, I had just finished washing it...

 

I recently got my steps in from Brandon. They are outstanding quality. Welds are strong and the end caps are finished perfectly. I used the Duplicolor truck bed coating. It is much more forgiving than the Rustoleum for spray and definitely gives the steps a much more rugged look. Ill post pictures soon on my build. Definitely quality work and I'd recommend them to anyone. (Wish he made a set for my wifes Commander. LOL)

 

They look good I ordered the bolt on sliders.

 

dude, go to Walmart, buy the cheap $6/can bedliner stuff, 2 cans is all you need, check it.




Just make sure you cover your garage floor or wherever you paint b/c that stuff flies a pretty good distance. The rails sit pretty nicely for you to where you can paint one side on both, let it dry, and then flip it and paint the other. I sanded mine down a little too with the sand paper and wiped them clean before I painted, only prep I had to do. Just give it time to dry. I went over both sides twice and it still looks just as good almost 9 mos later. Also, with the texture of the coating, I don't even use the gritty traction pads that they come with.

 

Rails look great. I've had mine for a few months, but no time to paint/install. Weather has been too cold to paint. I will be doing soon and will post pics when finished.
