Got Road Salt? Hope my frame holds up!

Usually my truck is Impulse Red.
The temps have been bitter cold with only a few menacing flurries. The highway crews throw salt on the roads to offset the dustings to stop black ice from forming. Today I noticed my truck was white with a hint of Impulse Red and its too darn cold to wash it. Some areas are so thick its flaking. Also the drivers side is always worst than the passenger side because of how its put down in the center. Can't even see Sockmonkey's decals!

How does any frame or bolt survive this stuff?

Boy I bet you can't wait to get it rinsed off, I know if it was me I would be chomping at the bit to get it cleaned.

My last house I had an oversized garage with radiant heat in the floor & running water. It was so much easier to keep stuff clean regardless of the weather. Boy I miss that place.

 

i work at a shop as a detailer so i got everthing i need there... come on down ill clean it for free

 

high pressure brushless car wash at a gas station would get SOME of the salt off... that's what I do when the blue turns white... lol

 

my truck looks exactly the same and i have only driven it maybe 30 clicks in the city since we had heavy rains that washed off all the previous salt!

 

i hate that stuff! To make it worse our road crews like to mix as much gravel in with the salt as possible so you get the nice rock chips everywhere

 

OIL! My truck looks like that right now, there is an inch thick coating on my exhaust.

 

I LOVE Phoenix. I don't miss that shit at all.

go get mud all over it after you clean it and just let it sit on your truck till winter is over, that will help with the salt on your truck, instead it will be all over the mud and not your truck.....

Well we have not had much of any bad weather here, and when we did it warmed up so I was able to get the ride cleaned up.
Here now it is 45, still plenty warm to wash.

 

Looks like a lot of ice on there. Just wash it as soon as its above freezing. Bottom of the truck to.

 

Just don't slam your door too hard. The truck might shatter. LOL. Couldn't be any worse than getting mud off the truck. Could it? It looks bad, but never had the privilege of washing snow off my truck.

 

haha, glad i don't share your problems boys. down here in north carolina it was 60 the other day. i wore a short sleeve shirt and no jacket on christmas day

Yeah that is where I usually go, but the temps haven't been above 15 degrees. Tomorrow freezing rain predicted

I love Phoenix, went there a few times for work, Carefree, Scottsdale, Tempe, a couple visits to Tuscon. Yes nice and warm & all older cars/trucks had not a lick of rust.

Thats a fine crust. You've seen my frame pics... mine's a fine white now too.

So far my recent frame undercoating appears good on the sections I used rust encapsulator paint. Areas w/ the rubberized spray stuff is ok where I laid it on thick, but thin areas appear to be bleeding already.
