I have the OTT lite/mild tune. When you get the OTT tune, do you lose the ECT functionality or does it work with the Mild tune? I don't like the Lite tune because it rushes to the highest gear, where as Mild seems to hold a gear until a certain speed. I am trying to decide if I want to go to Mild instead of Lite.

ECT is 100% functional on our calibration for all 3G trucks and (select 4G trucks with it).

The 9.2 update demonstrates significant improvements in vehicle performance. Specifically, the refined calibration provides enhanced low-RPM control, resulting in a more predictable driving experience and reduced necessity for throttle adjustments. Prior to the update, while on ECT spicy mode it required manual adjustments to mitigate potential issues during low-speed maneuvers. Furthermore, the update appears to have yielded improvements in fuel efficiency. Gear changes, particularly between first and second gears, exhibit enhanced smoothness. The update delivers a more refined and linear power delivery across the entire RPM range. Notably, the update no longer exhibits rev hang, which previously caused undesirable vehicle lurching during acceleration after deceleration.

For all previous 9.0 tunes, this update is highly recommended for users experiencing similar operational concerns.

I too have always felt that way - but, someone correct me if I am wrong, I don't think the throttle flavor affects how long gears are held. If you press ECT, your throttle changes to mild (or whatever variant you had flashed) and to the more aggressive shift map with ECT. Previously, the ECT mapping was too jerky for me to use around town but on the 9.2 update, ECT mode is usable as a daily now IMO.

I’ve always wanted a ‘Sport’ variant of OTT with longer gear holds, and the 9.2 update with ECT mode being usable for me, is pretty close to that now.

We can bring over the "sport trans" tune from ECU over to 'Normal' mode if you'd prefer that?

What is the "sport trans" tune?

We offer a "sport transmission tune" for many of the platforms we support, which is a more aggressive (think sport mode on many modern vehicles) transmission calibration designed to keep the engine up in the meat of the powerband. For the 3G Tacoma, this is used on the ECT drive mode. It can also be applied to the normal drive mode on request.

Doesn't changing tire size have basically the same effect on things as regearing? Is it just that the effect isn't as large so not worth adjusting for?

    I’m not following.

Transmission tuning, specifically the shift schedule, is something completely separate than changing the ring an pinion.

Maybe I was mistaken. I was under the impression that your tune is adjusted based on the ring and pinion changes when someone regears. Is that not the case?

For the 3G 3.5, we have different calibrations for different gear sets, but that is independent of the sports trans calibration referenced above.

@JustDSM anything in the works to port over the low speed throttle improvements to the ever so popular 2.7

@JustDSM is it possible/will there ever be a tune for the 4th Gen hybrids to disable the engine shut off? The code is in there as the ICE will remain on when tow/haul is selected, wondering/hoping it could be imported to normal drive mode. TIA

@JustDSM , question. Do you keep torque converter settings stoke or those have been optimized?

You'll find they are very, very similar to stock.

Don't want ever to say "never" but it's not something we're actively working on with the Hybrids. We've looked at it cursorily and I'm not sure it would be easy to implement given the hybrid systems integration and how it's utilized compared to the ICE-only models, which utilize it.

We're still a bit early in the development process to have a concrete answer here, if I'm being honest.

It's something we could look into for sure! Please send an email to info@overlandtailor.com and include your current file (I'm sure I have a copy somewhere) to make things easier. We can then work with you on some testing, as we don't have a 2.7L truck in-house.
