This is Scott... If you hadn't noticed, he drives slow. That Tacoma gets used only when needed, so the tires look like new all the time.

    IMG_8418.jpg IMG_8417.jpg IMG_8419.jpgPainted my stock fogs yellow

Also removed all vinyl including the lower clear protection that was yellow and made the truck look dirty. Read horror stories about removing this stuff but it wasn’t that bad

the bedside decals should not have a clear background. The dirt around the trim was horrible

I should’ve taken before pictures. Bought my truck last year (it’s a 2017) and the vinyl always bothered me

Catching up from this weekend. Did my 110k mile service. Oil & filter, tire rotation, engine and cabin air filters, and a new serpentine belt. I always kept an eye on the belt, especially as I got closer to 100k miles but it looked fine. Decided to go ahead and change it for more peace of mind than anything, given the miles and age of 6 years. Once I got it out I looked at it real close and could see some definite signs of age and use but it hadn’t started to crack. Wrapped it up and stuck it in the back of the truck as a good spare in case of an emergency.

Changing the belt is doable from just the top, but it really helps being able to get underneath and help route everything correctly. I replaced it with a Continental belt. Hopefully I can get another 100k out of this one!

Now now ... we must be more patient and tolerant of the "less aware" and "intellectually challenged" among us ...

    • Oil change
    • Replaced old skid plate with TRD (to make oil future changes faster)
    • Added Fumoto valve to oil pan (making oil changes potentially a bit cleaner)
Attached pics of old skid plate, new skid, and drain valve.

Hope you have better luck than me with yellow paint. I used Krylon stained glass , probably about 9 light coats. It looked great... A year later it needed to be done again.

I removed residual paint, cleaned, re-sprayed 9 light coats, and it looked great again..... For a year.

I removed residual paint, cleaned, and installed laminx . That's been good for a couple years

Left Saturday morning because I had something going on at home I paid $5000 for and did not want to be burned out nor sun-burned ... 5000 ft is thinner air and burns easier.

Stayed in a motel near the north edge of Moab ... had not worked out camping from my truck bed enough yet. But that is part of the next few weeks ... camping from my truck bed closer to home to understand supplies and primitive usage (bucket toilet, privacy tent for showers, etc). Then I should be able to plan better and spend $30/night instead of ... well ... "more".

And I learned that Moab is pretty at supporting its users ... people who use hotels or camping to rest and then scatter into the wilderness during the day ... instead of browsing through BestBuy or Kohls or Target (of which there are 0 in Moab). GearHeads is good for *free* filtered water and you can buy something else while at GerHeads.

I was in Moab from Thurs through Tues and spent $28 on camping, the first night, because it was getting late and didn't want set up in the dark. Since Moab, I paid 2 nights outside Capitol Reef ($60) and one in Grand Canyon ($15). All the rest has been dispersed.

I was not fully unprepared, though I should have brought the bed tent with me and trusted my organization skills ... I did bring privacy tent and sh&t-bucket and 7 gallons of water in case I needed to sleep in the truck cab one or more nights.

Since I have done 2 camping nights close by home and learned I *could have* squeaked by in Moab even not knowing how Moab supports and does not support travelers. Next time in Moab I know what to expect if I must camp, much less away from support facilities. I also know the features close by ... maybe Natural Bridge part as a first camping night. And I think I can get by in Death Valley away from facilities as well.

    This and that
The best spots are the furthest from facilities.

The letters actually came black, that’s a knockoff TRD Pro grilled from KOKAUTOPARTS they let you choose the color letters. I’m really happy with it

this is the paint I use. This is my second car using this on fogs, came out great

I have an old Ram I used this paint on 3 years ago, the fogs still look great

funny enough on a previous car I used laminx overlays and the developed a brown burn spot in the middle of them. Personally I prefer paint. I’m also cheap though lol
