HOAs are crap. But when you moved in you become part of that association. I always read the rules before I move in so I don't have anything to complain about. Or just move out to the middle of nowhere so you can do whatever you want.

Although a bass boat, motorcycles, muddy 4wheelers probably belong in a non HOA neighborhood. That or a trailer park.

edit: Where I used to live they put in 3 new rules.

    1) No more than 5 people at a time going up and down stairs.
    2) No cars parked outside the parking garage.
    3) No playing of musical instruments.

These we all because of me being noisy, parking my truck outside, and playing guitar.

So I sold the condo to a family of 10 immigrants for 100 grand under value. How is that for lowering value.

    Assholes.

and I wasnt dissing on trailer parks. Just showing how their point of view is.

When we first had our house built, there was a HOA. The covenants were very mild, as the community was still growing. I didn't even go to the meetings. Later, when the housing plan was almost complete, my neighbors were telling me about a few "new guys" who were trying to enact more rules into our covenant. These new residents wre also trying to keep the meetings "secret" so they could have their way. Well, I heard about this and made it my mission in life to recruit my neighbors and "dissolve" the HOA. Well, I succeded. I convinced many of the other residents of the dangers of a HOA. We all attended one of the "secret" meetings, I asked for a vote to dissolve the HOA, and by majority rules, we did.

The garage door thing is a little overboard! It's still funny though. i think they just don't like you.

If you need to show them there own rules than have a sit down with them.

I wouldn't admit that in public :D the president might find out and you'll get written up again - this time for improper disposal of poo, hehehe (I'd give anything to have seen his face)

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
Me and three of my neighbors got fined for having patio furniture on the front patio. So we all strapped our furniture to the roof (after reading all the codes and they couldn't ask us to take it off). They let the patio furniture tickets go in exchange for letting us have patio furniture on the patio.

Damn....whatever happened to the Land of the Free? I'd move to Canada :canada: where I'm told people are polite and friendly and in this case would offer to wash your truck and maybe even buy you a few almost frozen "cold ones".

It is land of the free. Free to start a HOA and free to move into one without reading the rules first :)

I'm happy to hear it's not just me. If anything they should be thankful towards me. It's not like I have a crappy garage. It's clean and so are my mowers. I think they are just pissed because I have more toys and a Tacoma and they are stuck with inferior equipment..
At the next meeting I"ll suggest they trade in their Chevy's for a real ride.:D

There is nothing in our rules mentioning a "dirty truck". Actually, the only thing in our rules is that vehicles must be registered, and not abandoned. They dont even have to be running.

And in other news, President dipwad has been sitting in his car watching my every move. I have been very friendly to him, and even smiled and waved. This guy has no life.

Yeah. I can totally relate. Where I used to live, it was a bunch of old people and I was the young guy. They wanted me out.

Im a little worried you suggested that to me.

I took the trash out while carrying my AR, and wearing my "ATF shooting tem" shirt (which stands for Arizona Tactical Firearms, and has a nice skull on the back of it. I waved and said "Hi" to him. Tonight I may wire his turn signal to his horn. :D

 I moved into my first HOA subdivision in 9/06, never again! It's insane! They have fifth-teen double sided pages of rules. The couple across from me must have a huge binder full of complaints, some dumb bitch is always leaving them HOA complaint notices (lol). I'm waiting to get my first notice, then I'm going to point out other neighbors who aren't following the HOA bible either! I'm going to tell them to come back & complain to me when EVERYBODY is following their silly ass rules.....:D

Sorry to whine, it's a sore subject
