Bikes in a truck cap

I'm new to the forum. I'm looking to install an ARE MX series cap. I want to be able to continue using my current bike mounting system. I use to stock cleats with toyota factory QR's. Does anyone out there put there bikes in the bed with a truck cap. I'm a former Jarhead so pictures would be great if you got them?

two mountain bikes I've done some measuring to the top of the handle bars. 27" is my max height. The cap I'm looking at on paper gives me a max inside height of 28". Not much room.

 

I got the ARE because Snugtop didn't make the Highliner that I had on my earlier generation Tacomas at that time in 2007. Still like the Snugtop better.
Pictures of our tandem and the slider I made to get it in without having to crawl back and secure it. Works for my single too. If I need to haul another single I have more Thule mounts and the Saris rail that the slider is mounted to.

 

Thanks for the help we are going with the MX series from ARE. I'll post pictures of the finished product. I've got a great idea for our tandem bike. Happy new year.

 

What kind of Tandem?
Our purchase of a Tandem in 2006 made me buy the truck. Couldn't take putting it on top of our Rav after a few times.

 

We purchased a Co-Motion Roadster this past May. We Just completed our Annual Polar Bear ride this morning. I like how easily you can load your tandem. I'm no carpenter but you've helped me get the wheels turning in my brain housing group

We just order the MX Cap today. I'll let you know how everything goes. I'm thinking about making a mount very close to your's. But I will try and make it out of honeycomb and carbon. I hope!

 

Now you are making me jealous. This one is just supposed to be my proto-type out of plywood to later be made from aluminum.
Bottom line. It works, I'm lazy so why build another one.
Now you have stirred my competitive side up.

 

I'm the lazy one. making that mount out of wood is much harder than composite. The cutout for the sliding mount would be much less of a hassle using composite. The only real issue is price. I was also thinking about aluminum extrusion for sliders.

 

I originally was thinking of drawer glides but the cost was way high for anything that long and sturdy.
I needed to not only get the bike back there but needed to move to the left at the same time after clearing the hatch.
My next version will be a little more angle and not near as heavy.
This one is 70 pounds. I'm thinking aluminum framing with some polished diamond plate would be cool.
I want to see your version before I get started on mine though.
